Dragon Study

Katie MacAlister has an interesting poll going on. It seems that there has been talking about putting together a mini-con by her devoted following and she’s started talking with her agent and they are actually going to make it happen. They are planning KatieCon for some time next year, but it’s not going to be an actual conference, but just a day to get together and have fun. The plans that have been swirling around in their heads (Katie’s and her agent) involve poker with prizes (there’s something about Puzzle Pirates here), a Q&A session, books to be signed, a raffle benefiting a local charity, giveaways (which might include early copies of her May 2009 release), etc. They haven’t picked the date yet, but they have a couple in mind, so they are having a poll. The date they have in mind is either a Saturday in April or May. Oh, one other important thing…KatieCon is going to be in Seattle, WA. I said there was a poll, here’s the info on it:

If you are interested in coming to the Seattle area (the hotel where I’d have the event is actually in Bellevue, which is right next to Seattle) for this get-together, please drop me an e-mail (katieATkatiemacalisterDOTcom) with:

  • A vote for a Saturday in April 2009
  • A vote for a Saturday in May 2009
  • A vote for some other time

Maria Snyder has also been doing quite a bit promoting her novel Fire Study. Here’s a list of where she has been.

Lastly, Maria is going to be at a couple of different places this month: June 26-29, 2008 Speaker and participant of Seton Hill’s Writing Fiction Retreat and June 27, 2008 Book Signing at Barnes & Noble Booksellers.

This next bit of Maria news is kind of humorous. It seems someone has spoofed her. Well, they spoofed the Poison Study video book trailer that the UK publisher put together. I’m not going to say whether it’s good or not, but I am curious to know what you think of it. Here is the video:

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.
