Bound by Moonlight by Nancy Gideon

NGideon-Bound by MoonlightDear Ms. Gideon, I’d like to announce my complaint.  You made me fall in love with two characters, Max and Cee Cee, and the next book in the Moonlight series isn’t about them, it’s about someone else.  I’m shell shocked.  I’m already missing these two immensely.  Tell me it won’t be long before I see them again?  Pretty please, with sugar on top bring them back soon, k?  Sincerely, Nikki.

Police Detective Charlotte caissie and her shape-shifting paramour Max Savoie thought the past was behind them. But in Nancy Gideon’s irresistible new romance, they discover it may never let them go…

THEY SWORE THEY’D BE TOGETHER FOREVER.
Detective Charlotte Caissie is suddenly sharing drawer space and making local news with her shape-shifter lover, Max Savoie. He’s determined to be accepted by her peers—so how can she ask him to return to his criminal roots to help her solve a complex case?

BUT THOSE THEY TRUST THE MOST . . .
Working undercover with her partner to find the serial killer who’s kidnapped a colleague’s daughter, Cee Cee is caught between her job and her fiercely possessive lover. And when she calls on Max’s preternatural talents to aid his hated enemy, she crosses a line that strains their relationship to its limit.

. . . WILL DO ANYTHING TO TEAR THEM APART.
With his secret spreading, Max is forced to protect his family and his clan. The only certainty is his love for his human mate . . . unless the loyalties that define them divide them forever.

I started Bound by Moonlight not knowing the truth about the next book; I like surprises you know.  I think I would have held on a bit longer in reading this had I known.  As it was, I carried this book around with me like a blanket.  Reading it when I got a moment but keeping it in my sights so I didn’t ‘miss anything’.  I’m that addicted.  ADDICTED!

Bound by Moonlight brings in a new case for Cee Cee to solve, and again it’s one that hits close to home, closer than ever.   They are both reacquainted with old demons when the case brings up nightmares from each of their pasts.  It makes them both edgy and scared that the other couldn’t take the intensity if they explained how they felt.  I had a moment or two of talking out loud and telling them to suck it up and just let go, seriously freaked the cat out let me tell you.  Even at the end, when things are calm and collected, they are still learning their footing in their relationship.  (I don’t think I’ve EVER spoken out loud to a series as much as I have this one, LOL)

I tried to read this book as much as possible, it grabbed me from the first page, but alas life was busy and I found myself angry when I couldn’t hide away and read.  Hello laundry? Can’t you see I want to watch Cee Cee undercover?  So not sharing that tidbit, but it rocks let me tell you. Its one hell of a way to go undercover ;).  Dishes didn’t you know that Max’s secret is out and now he’s hurt that Cee Cee is part of the reason why? With his people, secrecy is everything and he’s wondering if she’ll be able to live by that code.  She’s feeling guilty and trying to make him understand she’s not about to walk up to a stranger on the street and say ‘Hey did you know my boyfriend is a hot shifter?’  Max is now trying to protect not just his people but his family, Cee Cee and the few humans that know of his existence from the Trackers.  And Charlotte is bound and determined to fight by his side.  It’s a daunting task for Max and he’s not sure what the best solution is, run or stay and fight.  Either way, they are snapping at their heels and around every corner, making both of them on high alert at all times.

I’m going to repeat myself here, but you’ll get over it.  Buy this series, read them and you will fall in love, I promise you!

  1. I fell in love with Max and he was my book boyfriend in 2010. I’m kind of sad as well they won’t be the focus of the next book in the series. Truly loved all the books so far. Long live Max and Cee Cee and to many more books in the series!

  2. Almost makes you want to go to the Big Easy and stalk Max and Cee Cee, doesn’t it, Nikki? Love that pair, and there is always something new to keep it fresh. However, you’ve got to trust that Nancy won’t let us down with her newest main characters. (Pssst! I can guarantee that she won’t.)
