Contest: Stories for Nighttime and Some for Day

BLoory-Stories for Nighttime and DayThanks to the wonderful people at Penguin, I have another fabulous collection of stories to give away this Halloween season.

Stories for Nighttime and Some for the Day by Ben Loory

Loory’s collection of wry and witty, dark and perilous contemporary fables is populated by people–and monsters and trees and jocular octopi–who are motivated by the same fears and desires that isolate and unite us all. In this singular universe, televisions talk (and sometimes sing), animals live in small apartments where their nephews visit from the sea, and men and women and boys and girls fall down wells and fly through space and find love on Ferris wheels. In a voice full of fable, myth, and dream, Stories for Nighttime and Some for the Day draws us into a world of delightfully wicked recognitions, and introduces us to a writer of uncommon talent and imagination.

Giveaway Details

There is now an official giveaway policy, so if there’s any question, please consult that. However, all of LE’s contests have gotten simpler. All you have to do is answer this question: What are some of your favorite nighttime (or day) stories? Remember, you must answer the question in order to be entered. Unfortunately, since the prize is coming from the publisher, I do have to restrict the contest to US/Canada only. Sorry!

Even though I’m not offering the additional entries any more, you can still help support Stories for Nighttime and Some for the Day by sharing this contest on your blog, Twitter, Facebook, or anywhere you can. After all, the more people who are aware of this fabulous collection ensures we’ll get more stories.

The winner must post a review of the novel someplace. Whether it is on their own blog, Amazon, GoodReads, LibraryThing or wherever, it doesn’t matter. Just help get the word out.

The contest will stay open until October 31st, at which time I’ll determine the winner with help from the snazzy new plug-in I have.

I have not been contacting winners, so you will need to check back to see if you’ve won.

About Jackie 3282 Articles
I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.

  1. My favorite stories are personal stories that people tell in comfortable situations, family stories.

In the fiction world, I always loved the Just So stories of Rudyard Kipling when I was a child, or Aesop’s fables like the one where the Lion had a thorn and the mouse helped him. And of course I love reading stories to my grandchildren, like the Walter the Farting Dog stories!!

    Thanks for the opportunity.

  2. My favorite nightime story is Goodnight Moon because I used to read it to my niece when she was little to put her to sleep.

  3. My favorite nighttime stories are anything I’m reading at the time. I usually read for a while before I go to bed, and sometimes my dreams are filled with whatever story I was reading. It’s usually a good thing, but sometimes takes a darker turn. :D

  4. Favourite nighttime story? Hard to say. I don’t have things that I prefer reading at night over reading them in the day, and lately, most of the reading I get done is at night anyway. So I guess the best answer for this would be: anything!

  5. My favorite nighttime story is simply whatever I am reading at the moment, because once I start a book, I must finish it that day, without fail. As a kid, I always loved fairy tales, and in fact still do, a large amount of the books I read now being fairy tale adaptations.
