Author Appearances:

Subterranean Press has announced some fabulous new titles that will be releasing in 2012: Strange Embrace/69 Barrow Street by Lawrence Block (May 2012), Gods of Opar: Tales of Lost Khokarsa by Philip Jose Farmer and Christopher Paul Carey (April 2012), Indignities of the Flesh by Bentley Little (May 2012) and The Dragon Griaule by Lucius Shepard (May 2012). In addition, they’ve just released a fabulous new novel by Caitlin R. Kiernan, Two Worlds and in Between.

CKiernan-Two Worlds and in BetweenTwo Worlds and In Between: The Best of Caitlín R. Kiernan (Volume One) presents a stunning retrospective of the first ten years of her work, a compilation of more than two hundred thousand words of short fiction, including many of her most acclaimed stories, as well as some of the author’s personal favorites, several previously uncollected, hard-to-find pieces, and her sf novella, The Dry Salvages, and a rare collaboration with Poppy Z. Brite. Destined to become the definitive look at the early development of Kiernan’s work, Two Worlds and in Between is a must for fans and collectors alike, as well as an unprecedented introduction to an author who, over the course of her career, has earned the praise of such luminaries as Neil Gaiman, Peter Straub, Charles De Lint, and Clive Barker.

The Signed Limited Edition will feature sixteen pages of artwork from a variety of artists who’ve worked with Kiernan over the years, pages from her work on the DC/Vertigo comic The Dreaming, and a new chapbook, The Crimson Alphabet.

Speaking of Subterranean Press, they are currently having a 50% off special when you preorder 5 different Limited and Trade edition titles between now and October 28th.

There are always more fabulous covers popping up. To see them all, head over to facebook, where I’ve added them to the FB album for your viewing pleasure.

Blastr found this fantastic shadow play of Batman: The Killing Joke by Alan Moore and Brian Bolland is simply fantastic. Even though it’s in Spanish, for those familiar with the novel, you should be able to follow along pretty well. Now I’m thinking I should have read it when Jesse had it checked out from the library.

Io9 is sharing the news of a study they’ve found that says print is not dead. The Researchers at The Media Convergence Research Unit of Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz in Germany found some interesting results after comparing the IPad, Kindle 3 and good ole fashion books.

Stumbling Over Chaos has a new fabulous Misadventures in Stock Photography and this time we’re seeing the Slave Boy.

Want to know how to prepare for the upcoming Zombie Apocalypse? The CDC has it covered. Blastr doesn’t seem to be impressed with the corporate graphics, but honestly, it’s just hilarious to read how calm someone could be when told there may be a zombie epidemic.

Justice League Dark #2Galaxy Express as another fantastic roundup of all things news and goodness in the realm of science fiction romance.

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.
