Steampunk has really been making a name for itself lately and one series I keep hearing about is Gail Carriger’s Parasol Protectorate/Alexia Tarabotti. The first book, Soulless, has gotten rave reviews and even Larissa keeps telling me I really need to read this series. I’m not really sure why I haven’t read them yet; I even bought the first three when they were on sale this summer as an ebook bundle (The Parasol Protectorate). So I’m a little behind, and since spoilers just make me want to read a series more, Larissa and Bea (from Beas Book Nook) are going to enlighten me as to what I’ve been missing.

Alexia Tarabotti is laboring under a great many social tribulations. First, she has no soul. Second, she’s a spinster whose father is both Italian and dead. Third, she was rudely attacked by a vampire, breaking all standards of social etiquette.
