Stud by Cheryl Brooks

CBrooks-StudI was told this was an interesting read and although Stud is the #8 book in the Cat Star Chronicles by Cheryl Brooks, I decided to give it a shot.  I wasn’t disappointed….exactly.

Stud is eighth in the hugely popular Cat Star Chronicles, the sexy paranormal romance series featuring heroes from the destroyed planet Zetith. Zetithians have a feline gene that gives the males remarkable sexual prowess and feline beauty.

There is only one thing Tarq is good at, so he sets out to save his species by offering his services to women across the galaxy. Lucinda Force longs for romance, but is resigned to her loveless lot in life, until Tarq walks through the door…

Now while I do like Stud, it’s not one that I’d read often if again.  It’s not one that makes you think or really moves you emotionally.  It’s a novelty book.  It’s got some wicked sex, adventure, and ok characters. It doesn’t suck but it doesn’t exactly pull you in either.   And because it’s based on another planet there are some new words thrown in and new creatures.  One such word is snard….let me put it this way, it has to do with sex and a magical body fluid of Tarq’s species.  You’ll have to excuse me but the word snard makes me giggle and NOT for the right reason.  There were a lot of instances where I was annoyed with the dialogue or the situation, so much so that I did a lot of eye rolling.  For instance Kentucky Fried Chicken was referenced and spoke about as if it was a well known establishment still and yet Colonel Sanders had been dead for a thousand years and was from another planet.  Um yeah… Oh and you have names like Lucy and Reba then names like Tarq, Waroun and Jublansk, which was a bit strange for me.

If you want something with little emotional connection and crazy magical sex, you’ll like Stud by Cheryl Brooks.  I do have to say it was a fun book to read and it helped me pass time over the weekend.

  1. “hugely popular” ? Is it really?

I hate giving bad reviews but the one book from this series I tried to read was just awful. I couldn’t get more than about 60 pages with it.
