Black Friday Contest: Virtual Virgin by Carole Nelson Douglas

Black FridayWhat is a Black Friday without a few gifts and surprises? Carole Nelson Douglas wanted to be here, but due to deadlines (and we totally want more stories, right?), she was unable to participate. However, she’s sent along this fabulous beauty instead: Virtual Virgin. We are giving away 3 copies of Virtual Virgin and I know you want it. *grin*

CNDouglas-Virtual VirginShe’s Like a Virgin . . . Simulated for the Very First Time

For a red-blooded male, Las Vegas offers a virtual smorgasbord of temptation: sexy showgirls, vampy vampires, zombie starlets, you name it. But paranormal investigator Delilah Street isn’t worried about losing her man to these vixens. Especially when the one woman with a soft spot for the guy also has a hard-shelled exterior. . . .

She’s a robot—or a CinSim, to be exact—a near-perfect simulation of the silver-metal robot Maria from the classic science fiction movie Metropolis. Part innocent teenage actress, part depraved sex goddess, the new Maria is hooked on Delilah’s partner, Ric, who raised her from the dead. She also happens to be the perfect secret weapon for a demonic drug lord. Which could be one hell of a problem. Delilah’s not the jealous type, but this tin-can temptress must be stopped—even if it forces Delilah to forge a dangerous alliance with her wicked mirror-twin, Lilith. If robo-girl goes ballistic, every player in Vegas loses. . . .

Meet Carole Nelson Douglas!

Carole Nelson DouglasCarole Nelson Douglas is the author of almost sixty novels in many genres, but is best known for two popular mystery series, the Irene Adler mysteries and the Midnight Louie mystery series, and the recent Delilah Street, Paranormal Investigator, Urban Fantasy series.

Douglas was a theater and English literature major in college. After graduation, she worked as a newspaper reporter and then editor in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area. During her time there, she discovered a long, expensive classified advertisement offering a black cat named Midnight Louey to the “right” home for one dollar and wrote a feature story on the plucky survival artist, putting it into the cat’s point of view. The cat found a country home but its name was revived for her feline PI mystery series many years later. Some of the Midnight Louie series entries include the dedication “For the real and original Midnight Louie. Nine lives were not enough.”

She began writing fiction in the late 1970s and is a “literary chameleon” who’s had books published in many genres, and often mixes genre elements, such as mystery and suspense, fantasy and science fiction, romance and mainstream.

Contest Time!

Carole is giving away 3 copies of Virtual Virgin. To enter, all you have to do is answer this one question: What would the perfect gift be for a paranormal/supernatural investigator? Remember, you must answer the question in order to be entered.

Even though I’m not giving the additional entries any more, you can still help support the author by sharing their article, and this contest, on your blog, Twitter, Facebook, or anywhere you can. After all, the more people who are aware of this fabulous author ensures we get more fabulous stories.

The winner must post a review of the novel someplace. Whether it is on their own blog, Amazon, GoodReads, LibraryThing or wherever, it doesn’t matter. Just help get the word out.

All Black Friday contests will remain open until December 31st at which time I’ll determine the winner with help from the snazzy new plug-in I have. Have you checked out the other Black Friday contests yet? Check out the Master List to see all the Black Friday giveaways

I have not been contacting winners, so you will need to check back to see if you’ve won.

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.

  1. I think the perfect gift for a supernatural investigator might be a magical charm of protection maybe? Or perhaps a silver knife with a stake for a handle?

  2. A supernatural first aid kit. Bandages that heal in minutes, pills don’t can be absorbed into the skin, a wattle battle that automatically replenishes itself and the likes :)

  3. I think the gift I’d get for a paranormal/supernatural investigator would be a nice handbag to carry all the supplies she may need in her work.

  4. How about a gift certificate to stay at a supposedly haunted hotel or b&b? That would give the investigator a chance to mix business with pleasure.

  5. a cool weapon to defend themselves with or something to help conceal weapons so nobody can see them until its too late

  6. how about a magical trenchcoat with protection and magic pockets? defence and plenty of room for weapons as well!

  7. How ’bout a really great messenger bag filled with the latest gadgets, like an iPhone and laptop, so that traveling from one place to the next is easy as pie.

Or a batarang! I always wanted one of those:)

  8. Hey guys, I recently bought 50x silver maples and they’re going to be in tubes. What’s the best way to store these? Should I get individual air tight containers?

  9. The perfect gift for a paranormal investigator would be a book listing all of the known creatures the investigator might come across and how to deal with them!

  10. The perfect gift would be her very own crime fighting tough guy Alpha werewolf partner. Werewolves can smell things that normal people can’t. They are very strong and loyal and can fight when necessary and they’re super sweet to look at too! Thanks for the giveaway! Happy Holidays!

  11. Gah, Brenda, I was going to say a sidekick!

Guess if I want to be slightly original I’ll have to go with a grimoire since I think knowing how to perform magic spells or summon an angel or demon would come in super handy.
