New Advertising Policy

Effective January 1, 2011, Literary Escapism will begin to offer spaces for paid advertisements. While I would love to be able to talk about every author out there, that’s just not possible to do on my own. To help spread the word, LE has four different ad campaigns that are available to purchase and reserved by calendar month or as stipulated. Ad placements can be reserved up to six months in advance and scheduling is based on availability. Once a placement is confirmed, ad prices are locked for the duration of the campaign. The four ad campaigns are as follows:

  1. 170x250px – located in the sidebar. These placements are reserved through the Book Advertising & Marketing CO-OP (BAM).
  2. 300x250px – located in the sidebar, above the fold, for $60 per month.
  3. 300x250px – located in the sidebar, below the fold, for $50 per month.
  4. 468x100px – located in one news post. These are ads with one flat rate of $20, that will remain on the site indefinitely. One benefit to this option is that since the banner will be within a post, these ads will also appear within my RSS feed. The banner will not be deleted from the post unless it is requested. On average, LE runs three news posts per week. A banner may be used in multiple news posts, but can only be scheduled to occur once every 5 posts. Each additional placement will be $5 (i.e. 1 post = $20, 2 posts = $25, 3 posts = $30).

Please note, ads placed on LE through the Book Advertising & Marketing CO-OP (BAM) or scheduled exclusively with LE (pertaining to the 300x250px ads) are rotating placements and will not generally show up on every page view. Ad placements may be sold to multiple advertisers during the same scheduling period, which individual ads will rotate through all ad slots within one placement..

LE will support the following ad types: Rich Text (adsense-like) and Standard non-Animated Images (jpg, gif, and png). Images should be properly formatted to the predefined size requirements listed above.

Terms of Service:
To schedule an ad with the Book Advertising & Marketing CO-OP, please contact bcca.coop8 AT gmail DOT com.

Ad campaigns scheduled for one to three months must be paid in full at time of scheduling. For those wishing to have longer campaigns, the first three months must be paid in full upon scheduling, with subsequent monthly payments due on the 15th of the proceeding month. If payment is not received by the 15th, LE reserves the right to resell slots starting on the following day, although prepaid ads will still remain active through the end of the month. Late payments on existing campaigns will be rescheduled into open slots if the existing slots are sold.

If, for any reason, an advertiser needs to postpone a scheduled campaign, a request must be made 15 days prior to the end of current month. Payment for postponed campaigns will be due on the 15th prior to the month the campaign is scheduled to resume. Postponed campaigns will be subjected to open availability.

Please note, all ad funds are NON-Refundable. Advertising pricing, rotation, scheduling and terms can change at anytime without notice.

Please do not hesitate to contact Jackie with any questions.

Author Services

As much as I’d like to help each and every author, there is only so much time in the day. As such, Literary Escapism is offering two new services to help expose new readers toward an author’s work.

Reviews posted on Literary Escapism are not cross-posted to book retailers or social media networks due to time constraints. If an author would like for LE to cross-post its review on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, GoodReads and LibraryThing, I will be more than happy to do it for a nominal fee of $5 PER review.

Currently, reviews contain series listing and up to five other review links. If an author would also like to include links to their website, blog, video trailer, mySpace page, Twitter and/or a Facebook profile on the review of the author’s novel, I would be more than happy to do it for a nominal fee of $5 PER review.

Both of these services are completely optional and have no reflection on the review itself. If an author is interested in either of these services, please include your interest with your review request. Please note, adding these services will not guarantee a specific time for the review to be posted. The fees associated with each service are strictly administrative and payment will not be collected until the review is finished; at this time, the author can opt-out of the service. These services can be added to previously reviewed works. Maximum of 5 links and 1 video.

About Jackie 3282 Articles
I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.
