Cook Yourself Thin – Really?!

Cook Yourself ThinFor the fifth year in a row, my goal is to lose at least 50 lbs and this year I really want to do it.  I’ve even decided to forgo desserts, sweets and wheat in an effort to help (starting tomorrow since I’ve already cheated).  So Hyperion definitely caught my attention when they told me they were offering a select number of their ebooks for $3.99 and one of them happens to be a cookbook titled Cook Yourself Thin.

LOSE WEIGHT WITHOUT LOSING YOUR MIND!

Cook Yourself Thin is a healthy, delicious way to drop a dress size without all the gimmicks. The ladies of “Cook Yourself Thin,” a new Lifetime reality show, offer 80 easy, accessible recipes in this companion cookbook that teaches readers how to cut calories without compromising taste.

For some of us, losing weight has always been a struggle. The challenge: figuring out how to cook healthy, low-fat foods that won’t leave you hungry, bored, or running for a gallon of ice cream! Cook Yourself Thin shows how to cut calories, change diets, and improve health without sacrificing the foods we love.

Cook Yourself Thin is not a fad diet. It gives skinny alternatives to your cravings. You can’t live without your chocolate cake or mac ‘n’ cheese? You don’t have to! (See Deep Dark Chocolate Cake, page 197.) There’s never enough time to cook? Cook Yourself Thin keeps it simple-with easy instructions and fun recipes you’ll want to make again and again.

What are you waiting for? Cook Yourself Thin!

My first response – yeah right, no way.  However, they offered a sample recipe – Deep Dark Chocolate Cake, (pg 197) – and I’m thinking it might be possible.  The recipe includes beets and I know hiding vegetables in foods can help.  You’re suppose to eat lots of veggies, right? So I’ve reserved a copy from the library and we’ll see what happens. If it works, I may have to check out Cook Yourself Thin Faster as well.

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.

  1. I feel your pain. The only thing that works for me is to count calories and skip all those yummy foods. I use the My FitnessPlus app to record calories from food and energy expended through exercise. Starting Monday that’s what I’ll be doing. :(

    Good luck!

  2. I used to watch the show where they would show up at someone’s house and look at what they eat in a day and then take their favorite foods and make them healthier. I don’t know if it’s on anymore but I loved it.

  3. You and me both babe! I love Weight Watchers which is awesome but I need someone to make me move more, that’s my bigger problem :(. I can’t imagine beets in chocolate cake, but am curious how it turns out.

  4. Shelley – I have that app too. I was doing really well with maintaining my weight when I was using it. But after spraining both my feet in September, I stopped and now I’ve gained 20. I’m not amused. Monday I’m going hardcore as well. I’m losing the weight, especially if I’m going to try and fit into a corset for AAD. *grin*

Nikki – I want to try Weight Watchers. I could totally use the motivation of having people know how badly I’m doing. *grin*
