A Genie & Slayer Kisses the Grave

DCassidy-Accidental GenieHarperCollins has posted the first and second chapter to Kim Harrison’s upcoming A Perfect Blood, which releases February 21st.

Cherie Priest’s Clementine is now available as an ebook for the low price of $4.99. Considering the hardcover is going for $90+, if you’re a fan of her work, I would snatch this up.  Also available is her new release, Tanglefoot, which is set in her Clockwork Century world, and available for $.99.

JF Lewis has posted an excerpt from his next Void City novel, Burned, which will be released.

Yasmine Galenorn has a new Moon Daughters comic up.

Lauren Dane has posted a snippet from her upcoming novel, Sway, which releases in August as part of the Cherished duology.

Author Appearances:

DJones-Fourth Grave Beneath My FeetWicked Scribe found the news about Darynda Jones’ new young adult series. Death and the Girl Next Door will have a April 3, 2012 release date and will be the first in the new Darklight series.  A cover has yet to be revealed, but there is a synopsis:

Things get turned upside down for sophomore Lorelei MacAlister when the Angel of Death starts high school in her small town. What she doesn’t know is that she has been slated to die. It’s simply her time. And Death has been sent to do the deed. But when she touches him, when she peers into his eyes and reaches into his heart, he realizes she is more than what he was led to believe, and he disobeys his orders. He brings her back from the brink of death when he was supposed to push her into it. Because of this, he gets trapped on this plane. And that’s when all hell breaks loose. Literally.

In addition to this, there is also news as to the titles for ones’ fourth and fith Charley Davidson novels.   I’m still checking on the release dates, but we get to look froward to Fourth Grave Beneath My Feet and Fifth Grave off the Beaten Path.

The Source has a sneak peek at the upcoming Superman: Earth One Vol 2, which will be released later this year.

Jim C. Hines has a hilarious article on exactly how possible some of those cover poses are.  The results are quite amusing.  Needless to say, he was amused and overwhelmed by the response it got as well.

For those who are unable to make the RT Booklovers Convention this year in Chicago, the location has been announced for 2013.  Per the latest issue of RT Book Reviews, next year’s convention will be held in Kansas City, at the Sheraton Crown Center (formerly Hyatt Crown Center), May 1st through May 5th.  You’ve been given more than a year’s notice…let’s start saving!

Are you eagerly awaiting Tim Burton’s Dark Shadows, which releases in May?  BD Horror News has a sneak peek at what Johnny Depp and Michelle Pfeiffer will look like and I have to say the makeup is really well done.

Stumbling Over Chaos has another fantastic Misadventures in Stock Photography.  This week’s gem features Underwear Guy.

CCarver-Slayers KissThere are always more fabulous covers popping up. To see them all, head over to facebook, where I’ve added them to the FB album for your viewing pleasure.

Gini Koch has some fabulous news.  She’s sold a new series to Night Shade Books, with the first book in the new Alexander Outland series, Space Pirate, to be released June 5, 2012.

Trouble’s brewing out in space, and Alexander Outland — the least likely hero in the galaxy — and his eccentric crew have to save the day, despite the fact they’d prefer to take the money and run.

Parajunkee has another fabulous Blogging 101 piece and this time it’s on Google Friend Connect and accepting self-pubbed titles.  In response, All Things Urban Fantasy has a great piece on why accepting self-pubbed titles can be a bit problematic.  Okay, so maybe that’s a nice way of saying ATUF doesn’t accept self-pub titles, but neither does LE for many of the same reasons, but that shouldn’t deter anyone else from accepting them. As some of the commentators have said – there are some great self-pub titles out there and by not accepting any, you could be missing out.  It’s just whether you want to take the risk of running into an overly sensitive author (which seems to be happening more and more lately).

Contests:
Caitlin Kittredge is giving away three sets of The Iron Thorn and The Nightmare Garden – ends January 16th.

Gini Koch is giving away an ARC of her upcoming novel, Alien Diplomacy – ends January 22nd.

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.
