Cookies & Vampires…Yum!

Ilona Andrews has posted the first chapter to the fourth Kate!  I know once I get caught up here on Literary Escapism and with my media files (here I come Flickr and YouTube, is your bandwidth prepared?), I’ll be heading over to check it out.

SciFiGuy came across the cover for JR Ward’s new novel, Covet, which is also the first novel in her new paranormal romance series regarding fallen angels.  Harley riding fallen angels.  Why is this the first I’ve heard of this?  I knew that Covet was coming out September 29th, but I must have missed the memo about the angel element.  Doug also has the cover for Michelle Sagara’s Cast in Silence, the fifth book in her Cast series, which is will be released July 28, 2009.

Interviews:

The New York Times has an article on the surging sales of romance novels and other paranormal fiction.  This one I really like since someone, finally, doesn’t talk about UF or Romance in genre with their nose in the air and call it nonsense.

Has anyone else been by Stephenie Meyer’s website lately?  I haven’t, but a friend of mine forward a few deleted scenes that have been posted. There are 2 different threads of storyline that were deleted from New Moon that Meyer is sharing with us. The first one regards the scholarship thread that is sprinkled throughout the book and the second one tells us how Rosalie told Edward that Bella was dead, which gives a little insight into Edward’s psyche after he left Bella in Forks. Both of these are PDFs, so be warned, but they are good reads regardless.

Boxwish has an article talking about the top 10 best dressed vampires to grace the movie screens.  Of course Twilight is mentioned, but more as “they are not the first…”.  I actually agree with their number one pick and it’s not remotely related to Twilight or even Brad Pitt.

Ilona Andrews has a cover for their Samhain release Silent Blade. According to Tez Says, this will be available June 2, 2009. This is the first I’ve heard of this book, so I have no clue what it is about, so hopefully Tez can fill us in later.

Here’s yet another article on how vampires, werewolves and fantasy in general is surging in the publishing world.  This time, it’s from USA Today.

The Fabulous Lorraine has a great article on not what to send to your favorite writer.  This is hilarious.  I can’t believe some of the things that have been sent.

CONTEST ALERTS
Anya Bast is having another enormous contest in celebration of her latest anthology release.  What Happens in Vegas…After Dark comes out May 1st and the contest is lasting until release day.  There is also going to be daily book contests, so you’ll want to keep an eye on Anya’s blog.

Pat’s Fantasy Hotlist is giving away a copy of George RR Martin’s Songs of the Dying Earth.

Romantic Reads is having a massive contest for a copy of all of Dorchester’s May releases.  They’re estimating the prize to be worth about $100, so I would go check it out.

About Jackie 3282 Articles
I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.
