Bourbon Street: Trinity Blacio

AAD Burbon StreetDid you see that Boone Brux was over at Larissa’s Bookish Life yesterday with her own After Dark on Bourbon Street story? You should totally go read it…like now.

After Dark on Bourbon Street

Valda Salt ran her hand over the dusty, splintered, broken bar top and glanced around what used to be the Royal Sonesta Hotel in New Orleans. She laughed; a quiet, deep rumble in her chest, at the last name Valda had given herself, ‘Salt” her people not having last names, not needing them.

For years Valda had been hiding, away from her people in New Orleans. She wanted to be normal, a human, to enjoy the life they had, not hidden in the mountains, or the forests of world. Standing at six feet tall in her human form, Valda grabbed the bottle of unbroken whiskey that was on the floor behind the bar, and smiled.

“A round of whiskey for everyone here.” P.J. Schnyder ordered and leaned over to Dakota Cassidy. “I don’t think Stella will find us here, but if she does, run for it. She’s toting her Nerf Power Soaker, and that sucker can shoot clear across the room.” PJ snickered. “I should know. I got it for her for Christmas last year.”

Dakota gulped the whiskey down. “I owe Miss Stella one yet.”

Gayle Donnelly snickered and nudged Robyn MacKenzie, laughing. “I hate to say it, Dakota, but it’s the first time anyone has actually seen you speechless.” Gayle nodded to the end of the bar. “Isn’t that the male model Stella used, or you, used? I do have to admit he was hung.”

Everyone busted out laughing, just as Stella came into the bar, loaded and ready. “All of you are supposed to be out there pointing people to the panels.” She aimed the Nerf gun and all of them took off running.

“Poor, Trinity Blacio. She didn’t have a chance.” Valda whispered, and took a swig of the whiskey as she sat down on the floor, visualizing Trinity’s fall and soaking from the gun.

They were all gone now. Oh, she had seen through their human forms to their natural shapes, but that hadn’t bothered her, because she too was hiding from her destiny, but she also knew soon it would come crashing down around her.

Yep, Stella Price and her man were really snake shifters, and were now enjoying the new planet, which Velda would soon be part of. She took another gulp of whiskey and smiled. Dakota had been a Fae and now surrounded my Fae men with her Terra on her head. P.J. had been a wolf shifter. She was a member of Remi’s pack, same as always, running free, driving the
men crazy.

Then there was Gayle and Robyn, both of them Vampires, under the protection of King Hazelfield. Yep, Gayle had given poor Dominic hell the first time she had seen him. Informing him there was no way that she and her husband were going to be part of their private BDSM club. Oh, but Valda knew Gayle’s secret; she had seen her buy the black whip.

“Me thinks Gayle protests too much.” Valda sighed, and once more glanced at the broken furniture, smashed windows, and wreckage all around her. Valda’s gift was to see things, things that had not happened yet, but would. Once she touched a person, Valda knew their life history, past and future, and she hated her gift. The only people she couldn’t read were those who were close to her and her own

Oh, she had seen Jaycee’s, Suzanne’s, and Lissa’s past, but those were thrust upon her by the new world, that still to this day, called to her to come home. She was one of the missing females from their circle, but she wasn’t ready to fulfill that prophecy yet.

Sure Suzanne had four men who surrounded her, but her people had hardly any females left, so having four men would be great. In her world, every female was surrounded by a pack of men, not one, two, three, or even four, but six! But as if that wasn’t enough, the men all believed she should just lie there and let them each take a turn with her. No foreplay, no nothing.

Valda wanted love and her new friends had showed her on Bourbon Street what it felt like to belong. No, she wasn’t ready to leave New Orleans yet, she still had her memories and the toys that Valda had discovered. No, she didn’t need any men. Yet.

Contest Time!

Thank you Lacie for taking the time to stop by Literary Escapism for our Authors After Dark on Bourbon Street event!

Larissa and I are giving away two $25 ARe gift certificates and to enter, all you have to do is answer this one question: Are you going to the AAD Conference? Who are you excited, or would like, to meet/see? While we’re at the AAD Conference, where should we hit up?Remember, you must answer the question in order to be entered

Even though we won’t be giving any additional entries, you can still help support the authors by sharing this event and their articles on your blog, Twitter, Facebook, or anywhere you can. After all, the more people who are aware of these fabulous authors will ensure we get more fabulous stories.

The contest will stay open until February 21st at which time we’ll determine the winners with help from the snazzy new plug-in I have, the Research Randomizer and the List Randomizer.

I have not been contacting winners, so you will need to check back to see if you’ve won.

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.

  1. Funny! Especially since jojo is deathly afraid of snakes LOl (and there would never be a male model anywhere NEAR aad lol)

But was funny, and Im flattered to be in it (and flattered you think I move as gracefully as a snake shifter would LOL!)

  2. I am not going to AAD (Whine, Whimper, Sigh!!) I really wish that I was! It sounds like a fantastic time, and I LOVE New Orleans!! Have a good time everyone! Thanks for the wonderful giveaway.

  3. Well at this time I’m not going. I’m planning a trip to Ireland. However I will know more in a few weeks. If my trip falls through and I can’t go and there is still openings for AAD I will attend.

As far as who I’m most excited to see I would have to say all of you wonderful authors. I do have some wonderful writers I call friends I would like to see. Jeaniene Frost, Dakota Cassidy. I would love to see Theresa Meyers.

You all Rock! Especially Stella and I can’t wait to see you all again.

There is no particular author I’d like to meet, if I’d go I’d like to meet a lot of author’s to discuss books, it’s always interesting to meet new people and discover new angles on book writing experience.
