After Dark on Bourbon Street

SHOOTER’S TOP 5 TIPS FOR SURVIVING MARDIS GRAS

Shooter Welles is a professional tie-down roper, part-time construction worker, and the hot cowboy hero of Cat Johnson’s new release Texas Two-Step: Cowboy Shuffle. He’s stopped by to give us his top tips for surviving New Orleans during Mardi Gras.

1- Don’t eat the baby Jesus in the King Cake—it’s not made out of candy. I learned that one the hard way.

2- When drinking at The Boot on Broadway Street, don’t wear your good cowboy boots—those Tulane frat boys can’t all handle their liquor as good as we Texans do. Learned that one the hard way too. Don’t ask.

3- When peeing in public, make sure there’s no one inside the car you’re hiding in front of to pee. I won’t make that mistake again.

4- The Hurricane drinks on Bourbon Street are way stronger than they taste. Holy hell, can you say “hangover”? My head still hurts.

5- And finally, be prepared that if you have beads, girls are gonna show you their boobs. That reminds me, I need more beads. Gotta go.

Look for more of Shooter in Cat Johnson’s new contemporary Western romance, Cowboy Shuffle.

What’s a cowboy to do?

When the woman he wants, wants nothing to do with him, Shooter Welles pretends to be someone else. That’s how he finds himself hiding behind a fake profile on an online matchmaking site to woo the girl of his dreams—literally. Erotic, hot and sticky dreams that make him see his best friend’s sister, Ellen, in a whole new light.

Ellen Griffin wants a steady man in her life, but she’s had enough of both rodeo cowboys and doctors. Unfortunately since she’s a busy nurse and a barrel racer, those are the only men she’s around, until she meets a mysterious guy online.

Can this seemingly perfect stranger be the perfect man for her? And what will happen when he reveals his true identity?

Contest Time!

Thank you Cat for taking the time to stop by Literary Escapism!

Cat is giving away a download of Texas Two-Step from All Romance eBooks. To enter, all you have to do is answer this one question: What would your survival tip be for someone experience Mardi Gras? While we’re at the AAD Conference, where should we hit up? Remember, you must answer the question in order to be entered.

In addition to the fabulous prize above, Larissa and I are giving away two $25 ARe gift certificates, so be sure to answer the question.

Even though I’m not giving the additional entries any more, you can still help support the author by sharing their article, and this contest, on your blog, Twitter, Facebook, or anywhere you can. After all, the more people who are aware of this fabulous author ensures we get more fabulous stories.

The winner must post a review of the novel someplace. Whether it is on their own blog, Amazon, GoodReads, LibraryThing or wherever, it doesn’t matter. Just help get the word out.

The contest will stay open until February 28th at which time I’ll determine the winner with help from the snazzy new plug-in I have.

I have not been contacting winners, so you will need to check back to see if you’ve won.

About Jackie 3282 Articles
I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.

  1. I’ve never been to New Orleans, But my daughter went on her honeymoon. My advise, where comfortable shoes, because you will be walking everywhere! and parking costs a fortune.

  2. Oh well since we have also a carnival coming up, I’d say try some new food, some nice new drinks and share the three for one drinks: You can make new friends AND wont get hungover ;)

  3. 1.Enjoy yourself
2.Do bring something for the headache
3.Meet new people(especially important if you are single ;) )
    4. Try some new food
5.Buy super compfortable shoes, because you have to go dancing, with those new people I mentioned in point 3!!!
6.Share the acohol, no need to be the only one drunk and hungover ;)
7.After point six, try new costumes and convince your friends from AAD Conference to wear something funny as well – Just think of the photos you can share with your readers online XD

  4. Good walking shoes and enough energy drinks to keep you awaken for the parties!
As to the AAD crowd, it depends what you enjoy. I love museums and good food, so restaurants with creole food would be my recommendation and the historical cementeries tours.

  5. I myself have never been to Mardi Gras, but I’ve heard an essential survival tip is to go with a group. This way, it’s more fun, and it’s safe. While at the conference, hit up some classic New Orleans food! Can’t get any better!

  6. While I’ve never been to Mardi Gras, I would recommend to bring good walking shoes(if your feet are bleeding after the first hour, you wont have any fun at the event, I’m telling that from experience ^^)

Bring friends or at least one person you like, because it’s no fun not to be able to share the new things you experience.

Visit the French Quarter with the AAD group!
