Lilith Saintcrow just has a ton of series out that I wasn’t aware of. She has a new one starting this September with the release of Steelflower on the first and one that was just released July 1st, Night Shift which starts the Jill Kismet series. Plus she has the following series: Watcher (Dark Watcher), The Society (The Society), and Dante Valentine (Working for the Devil). That’s a lot of books I need to catch up on.

The fourth Morgan Kingsley novel by Jenna Black is going to be called Speak of the Devil, but there isn’t a mention of a release date. Jenna just turned it in to her editor, so we still have a couple of months for it. If you receive Jenna’s newsletter, than you have also seen the latest cover for The Devil’s Due, which is due out November 25th. I’m not sure what I think about it yet…it’s different from the other ones, but from what she said, it seems that no one liked the original and they were cutting it close getting this one to print. Once I can get a link to it, I’ll post it here. Also, Jenna is going to be making a couple of appearances in Virginia in August. She’ll be at the Virginia Beach, VA Books-a-Million grand opening on August 15th at 7pm as well as at the Blacksburg, VA Books-a-Million grand opening on August 19th at 7pm. Still not close enough for me to go see her though.

The third book in MaryJanice Davidson’s Fred the Mermaid series now has a cover. It’s continuing along the same theme as the other novels, which I like. I just wish Betsy had done that. Fish Out of Water will be out November 25th.

The title for the third Silver Dragons book by Katie MacAlister has been named. It’s going to be called Me and My Shadow. There has also been more news on the KatieCon. Well, sorta. Katie had started up a news message list for all KatieCon announcements, so if you interesting in joining click here.

The title for Karen Chance’s fourth Cassie Palmer novel has been announced. The book with be called Curse the Dawn, and according to amazon, the novel will be released April 9, 2009.

While browsing through Amazon, I found some release dates.

  • The seventh book of the Rachel Morgan series, Kim Harrison, has been named – White Witch, Black Curse – and will be out February 24, 2009.
  • Nalini Singh’s Angel’s Blood will be out March 1st.
  • Anne Bishop’s, The Shadow Queen, will be out March 3rd.
  • Running Hot, the fifth novel in Amanda Quick/Jayne Ann Krentz’s Arcane Society series will be out December 30, 2008
  • Colleen Gleason has a new Gardella Vampire novel coming out March 3rd and it’s called As Shadows Fade.
  • The third novel in MaryJanice Davidson’s Fred the Mermaid series, Fish Out of Water, will be out November 25th.
  • Untamed, the fourth House of Night book from PC Cast, will be out September 23rd.
  • Terri Garey’s third Nikki Stix novel, You’re the One I Haunt, will be out March 1st.
  • Keri Arthur’s seventh Riley Jensen novel, Deadly Desire, will be out March 29th according to Amazon. It seems so far away.
  • Patricia Brigg’s fourth Mercy Thompson novel, Bone Crossed, will be out Feb. 3, 2009.
  • Anya Bast’s third Elemental Witches novel, Witch Heart, will be out Jan. 6, 2009.
  • Anya Bast has another novel, Stranded by Sunlight, coming out Sept. 12th.
  • Mysteria Lane (Anthology), which was suppose to be out Aug 20th, has had it’s release date changed to Oct. 8th.

Speaking of Amazon, I did not know you can become an affiliate and actually earn money by referring people to their site for their book buying fixes. That’s actually kinda cool and I’ve sent up an account for Literary Escapism. I’ve always put an amazon link in all of my reviews (if you didn’t know, click on the image), but now they’ll be linking through our aStore at Amazon. So the more you people buy, the more books I’ll be able to review because it’ll be easier to convince the hubby to allow me to buy the books I can’t find at the library.

Has everyone seen the new cover for Anya Bast’s Witch Heart? The cover was done by Tony Mauro. The novel comes out January 6th.

Kelley Armstrong has added the first two chapters of Living with the Dead to her website. You can find them here and here. She’s also been making some changes to her newsletter. She’s going to be starting one for her Chloe Saunders series that will be having some different content than her Otherworld Newsletter. If you’re interested, you can sign up here. There has also been an announcement of two new anthologies. Men of the Otherworld will include the novellas infusion, Savage, Ascension, and a new one set in the present and narrated by Jeremy. The book will be out February 2009. Then in or around February 2010, Tales of the Otherworld will be out and it’ll include the novellas Beginnings, The Case of El Chupacabra, Wedding Bell Hell, and an original story or two. Armstrong is going to be polling readers on the topics of the new works sometime this winter, so keep an eye open for that. Bantam Spectra, Armstrong’s publishing house, has a twice yearly publication that contains an original short story from one of its authors and the next issue will have a story feature Elena and Clay.

Who doesn’t love James Marsters? If you’re a Buffy fan, then you know him as Spike the vampire. He has such an interesting accent for that role as well as in real life that it’s just so much fun to hear him talk. Well, he’s the voice actor for the Dresden Files audiobooks by Jim Butcher and the first novel, Storm Front, is already out.

HBO is putting together a graphic novel called True Blood: The Great Revelation as a prequel to the True Blood series. The comic became available online and in print as of July 24th. The comic book is written by David Wohl (Witchblade, The Darkness) with art by Jason Badower (HEROES online comic), colored by Blond and story by Brian Cain and Gregg Hale (“The Blair Witch”) at Campfire. The Top Cow has some sample pages up if you want to take a look. Here’s the link for the comic book.

HBO has finally produced a poster for the True Blood series that is due out in September. It’s actually really pretty and you really can’t read the tagline from here, but it says “Thou shall not crave thy neighbor“. I think it actually works with the novels. You can also take a look at some behind the scenes shots here. There is also a discussion board for the show, but there’s not much there yet. Just wait until September, and then it’s going to explode.

The newest part to the newsletter, there have been quite a few interviews this month. One interview in particular stands out for me and that’s because Literary Escapism had it’s first interview with Lynda Hilburn, author of The Vampire Shrink. There’s a contest running for a signed copy of The Vampire Shrink and Dark Harvest, but the contest ends on Aug 4th at 10am. Now, here are some of the great interviews that have taken place this past month:

There’s a new cover for Eileen Wilks novel, Mortal Sins. It’s the fifth novel in her World of the Lupi series and will be out February 2009. Here’s a quick blurb: An impossible killer. An impossible mantle. An impossible moment when something penetrates Lily’s supposedly perfect shield against magic–and accomplishes the unthinkable.” The cover is shiny and I love the green. In other Wilks news, she has a new myspace page, so head over and get her friend list growing. More World of the Lupi news, the sixth novel has a name – Blood Magic, but no release date yet.

I don’t know if this is really new or not, but Ilona Andrews now has a blog up over at livejournal. Well, it’s new to me at least. She also seems to be putting up snippets from the fourth Kate Daniels novel. We haven’t even seen the third one yet, so I’m going to have to keep my eyes open for more.

This must be the month for revealing covers, because Rachel Vincent posted the new cover for Pride, which isn’t due out until early next year. There’s something I’ve been noticing about these covers…they really don’t scream urban fantasy to me, but I think I like them more for that reason. They add a bit of color to my bookshelf.

Sherrilyn Kenyon has launched a new commercial for her new novel, Acheron. It’s only 33 seconds long, but it’s still amusing. Here’s the link to check it out.

I’ve been introduced to a new paranormal site – Paranormality. It’s done by author Lynda Hilburn (The Vampire Shrink) and has a ton of paranormal authors guest blogging from now until the end of the year. And speaking of Ms. Hilburn, Literary Escapism did it’s first interview with Lynda and is giving away a signed copy of The Vampire Shrink and The Dark Harvest, which doesn’t come out until October. So if you haven’t seen it yet, then make sure you head over to it.

For Yasmine Galenorn fans, you’ll be excited to hear that she has been contracted by Berkley to write a second UF series. It’s not going to be a young adult series, but it is aimed at a slightly younger crowd than normal UF novels. At the moment, it’s being called the Elemental Magic series and there isn’t a release date yet for the first book, but hopefully we’re get something by the end of the year. She’s still planning on writing the Sisters of the Moon series.

And finally, for all of you Harry Potter fans who may have missed it, the trailer for the sixth movie, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, was released.
