Contest: Black Howl by Christina Henry

CHenry-Black HowlThanks to the wonderful people at Penguin, I have a copy of Christina Henry’s newest Black Wings novel, Black Howl, to give away to one lucky reader.

Something is wrong with the souls of Chicago’s dead. Ghosts are walking the streets, and Agent of Death Madeline Black’s exasperating boss wants her to figure out why. And while work is bad enough, Maddy has a plethora of personal problems too. Now that Gabriel has been assigned as her thrall, their relationship has hit an impasse. At least her sleazy ex-fiance Nathaniel is out of the picture–or so she thinks…

Have you had a chance to read this fabulous series yet?  Nicole has and she had some fabulous things to say:

Black Wings:  I’m hoping to learn more about this world in the sequel Black Night.  I do enjoy this twist on the Heaven/Hell arc and fallen angels and am looking forward to reading more…hey who can resist some pretty wings? ;) (Click here to read the full review)

Black Night was a fun read. Pacing was pretty even and there was mystery after mystery that must be solved, but yet all intertwined. Henry does a good job keeping the plot threads loose and separate and then tying them all up at the very end.  While there’s not a huge cliffhanger at the end, the last few lines definitely have me wanting the next book in this fresh UF series. Well, I was going to post what Nicole thought about Black Howl, but a lot of it is “oh my god, she did what?  Damn I’m crying.” and all that, so I’m going to leave you with what she recommends: (Click here to read the full review)

If you haven’t read the Black Wings series…go pick it up and get caught up before the release of Black Howl on 2/28/12.  If you’ve read the first two novels, make sure you add Black Howl to your list of books to grab on your weekly run at the end of the month.

Contest Details!

We’re giving away a copy of Black Howl and all you have to do is answer this one question: Can you resist a set of pretty wings? If so, why? If not, why  not? Remember, you must answer the question in order to be entered.

Even though I’m not giving the additional entries any more, you can still help support the author by sharing their article, and this contest, on your blog, Twitter, Facebook, or anywhere you can. After all, the more people who are aware of this fabulous author ensures we get more fabulous stories.

The winner must post a review of the novel someplace. Whether it is on their own blog, Amazon, GoodReads, LibraryThing or wherever, it doesn’t matter. Just help get the word out.

The contest will stay open until March 6th at which time I’ll determine the winner with help from the snazzy new plug-in I have.

I have not been contacting winners, so you will need to check back to see if you’ve won.

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.

  1. Given the fact that I’ve collected a few sets of butterfly and moth wings (and also have a feathery set from my Valkyrie Halloween costume a few years back), obviously not.

  2. I love “pretty” wings! Especially if they are attached to a good lookin guy ;)

Love this series! Thanks for the giveaway!

  3. I love a pair of pretty wings. I love butterflies, so much so, I have a butterfly garden to attrack them. I think they would be really pretty on a girl. On a guy, however, I want different wings.

  4. I wanted to say ‘of course’ but then I realized how much I love faeries and dragons.

  5. only if they are on a hunky guy and then I’d want to pet them to see if they are s soft as they look. And i’d love to know what being enfolded with them would feel like.

  6. I can’t resist a set of pretty wings because they’re not just pretty, they represent the ability to fly and I think that would be very cool.

  7. Nope. I’m attracted to all pretty colors and shiny things. Love the mechanics of wings and the cretures who possess wings (dragonflies, butterflies, angels, unicorns, etc.) Plus with wings, there’s also the excitement of me possibly flying ;)

  8. I really can’t. Wings are so great to look at! Plus, if I had a superpower, it would be to fly. There’s something about them that is romantic to me.

  9. I LOVE a set of pretty wings! Butterfly, fairy, pixie, or angel! :) wings are pretty and enchanting…and who doesn’t dream of flying??

  10. I like wings, like a lot of people have said, on butterflies or dragonflies. I love seeing them in the warmer months. On fictional characters, okay, guys, they kind of creep me out.

  11. i have a butterfly tattoo
love a pair of wings. ssomething magical about them. how they can just flap and take to the sky and go wheresever they want too

  12. It depends. If it’s on something that’s alive, then yes, if it’s a butterfly killed and pinned to a board, no.

As far as wings on things that are fictional. Fairies, yes, angels, eh, not so much.

  13. i love looking at wings! photographing them is a hobby of them (birds, butterflies etc).. so i would say i would have lots of problems resisting them!

  14. I could not resist if the wings had a smoldering hawt guy attached to them. Wait, I would love a pair too.

  15. I really have enjoyed the Black Wings series so far. Book 1 and 2 were so great, these are some amazing characters that I want to go on and on.
Wings, totally a sucker for wings, either on me or on a nice sweet and snarky guy, wait is Gabriel available?! or does he have a nice attractive brother we do not know about yet?!
