Touch by Jus Accardo

JAccardo-TouchI’ve loved books in the past, and I’m going to love books in the future, but Touch by Jus Accardo has instantly become one of my all time favorite books. Ever. Touch is so utterly amazing that hours after I finished it, I was ready to go back and reread it.

When a strange boy tumbles down a river embankment and lands at her feet, seventeen-year-old adrenaline junkie Deznee Cross snatches the opportunity to piss off her father by bringing the mysterious hottie with ice blue eyes home.

Except there’s something off with Kale. He wears her shoes in the shower, is overly fascinated with things like DVDs and vases, and acts like she’ll turn to dust if he touches her. It’s not until Dez’s father shows up, wielding a gun and knowing more about Kale than he should, that Dez realizes there’s more to this boy—and her father’s “law firm”—than she realized.

Kale has been a prisoner of Denazen Corporation—an organization devoted to collecting “special” kids known as Sixes and using them as weapons—his entire life. And, oh yeah, his touch? It kills. The two team up with a group of rogue Sixes hellbent on taking down Denazen before they’re caught and her father discovers the biggest secret of all. A secret Dez has spent her life keeping safe.

A secret Kale will kill to protect.

Dez is the kind of character I idolize. She’s tough, couragous, passionate, loyal, smart and maybe just a little bit crazy. That wasn’t all there was to her, though. Part of her is still that little girl who desperately craves love and attention from her father; she’s not nearly as confident as she wants the world to believe, but she doesn’t let her self-doubt keep her from doing anything she wants to do.

Kale was such a unique character. He had been a lethal assassin for his entire life, yet he was so innocent in all other aspects of life. He didn’t know how normal people live their everyday lives. While Kale and Dez may appear to be polar opposites (tough, loner chick and the guy who needs someone to teach him everything; lethal assassin and the girl who craves affection) they fit together perfectly.

The romance between Dez and Kale was intense, yet so heart-meltingly sweet. From the moment she met him, Dez had to teach Kale what life outside Denazen Corporation was like. Including all the little nuisances and signs that indicate that a person likes another person more than just as a friend. My favorite scene ever was when Dez had to explain to Kale what holding hands means. So cute and sweet! I reread those paragraphs at least three times.

The plot was practically non-stop, heart-pounding action. There were a few breaks, when Dez and Kale found places to hide and sleep, but for the most part, Touch was go, go, go! Hide, hide, hide! Fight, fight, fight! Completely engrossing and amazing.

All I want to say is, READ THIS BOOK! Touch has everything I love in a book: a fast paced, action packed plot full of surprising twists, a kick ass heroine, badass yet innocent hero, a sweetly intense romance and one big final epic battle. I couldn’t get enough; I loved every word! I NEED more Dez and Kale!
