I’ll admit, I originally got the Black Dagger Brotherhood: An Insider’s Guide just so I could read Father Mine. Then I realized that there was so much more to it: interviews with the brothers, tiny peeks into their lives now, deleted scenes and “craft comments” from J.R. Ward on each of the novels so far.
This is a book no Black Dagger Brotherhood fan should miss:an insider’s guide that will seduce readers as powerfully as the sexy band of Brothers and the world they live in. And also included is an original short story about stars Zsadist and Bella!
This comprehensive guide features insider information on the Brotherhood, their dossiers, stats, and special gifts. Readers will savor interviews with their favorite characters, deleted scenes, exciting material from the J.R. Ward message board and the answers to their burning questions. They’ll learn what it’s like for J.R. Ward to write each installment of the series, and in a fascinating twist, read an interview with the author?conducted by the Brothers. Plus readers will get a sneak peek at the much anticipated next book in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series, Lover Avenged.
Father Mine was a short novella at the beginning of the Insider’s Guide, which you can also buy as an e-book. It’s about how Z finally came to terms with being a father. It was short, sweet and made me fall in love with Z all over again.
I must be deaf and blind on the Internet because apparently there is a message board online that the brothers actually get on and interact with people! Eeek! Fortunately, the Insider’s Guide has some of their more important posts (like when Lassiter was first introduced and Phury and Cormia’s wedding ceremony). If you’re like me and had no idea, then I highly suggest you go buy the Insider’s Guide and find out what you’re missing.
Not only were there important snippets, but there were Slices of Life. Random tidbits that the brothers usually post on the message board about what they’re doing. Little things, like a movie night with all the brothers and their shellans that wouldn’t have space/time in any of their books.
Even though I just read the BDB series, this Insider’s Guide made me want to go back and reread all the books. Not only because I love them all that much but because I’ll now have all this background knowledge, like how JR really struggled with writing Lover Unbound but she loved writing Lover Enshrined because she loves Phury so much.
Anyone who is a fan of the Black Dagger Brotherhood must read the Insider’s Guide. Yes, MUST. It’s more time with the brothers, so why wouldn’t you want to read it?
