Look Who’s Going to RT: Nalini Singh

Nalini SinghCan you introduce yourself to my readers a little?
I live in beautiful New Zealand, think chocolate is a good group, and love writing with a mad passion.

Can you introduce us to the world that you have created?
The Psy/Changeling series (Slave to Sensation) is set slightly into the future and features three races: the Psy, who have phenomenal powers of the mind, such as telepathy and telekinesis, but who have conditioned emotion out of themselves in an effort to save their race from the madness caused by their gifts; the changelings, who can shapeshift into creatures such as leopards, wolves and falcons, and who adore touch, live for sensation, and are in many ways, the direct opposite of the Psy; and the humans, who are caught between the other two powerful races but who have a critical role to play in the future of their world.

The Guild Hunter series (Angels’ Blood) is set in a New York ruled by archangels, with vampires as their servants. Those vampires sign a contract to serve the angels for a hundred years in exchange for the gift of near-immortality. The Guild is charged with retrieving those vampires who seek to break that contract and escape the angels. This series is dark and edgy, the archangels beings of incredible power who barely notice humans and their firefly lifespans–and most humans are quite happy not to be noticed by someone who could end a mortal life with a single thought…but not every human has that choice.

Will this be your first RT or are you a veteran? Any advice for those who are going for the first time?
This’ll be my first ever RT and I’m really excited to be attending!

Are you speaking on any panels during RT? Are there any you are looking forward to?
My final speaking schedule hasn’t yet been confirmed, but I will be doing several things throughout the convention. And if you see me outside the official events, please do come on up and say hi! I also haven’t yet decided which panels I’ll be attending, but I know I’ll be spoiled for choice!

If someone were wanting to meet up with you at RT, who should they look for?
Actually the best way to find me might be to listen for the Kiwi (New Zealand) accent. ;-)

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.
