Look Who’s Going to RT: Jennifer Estep

Jennifer EstepCan you introduce yourself to my readers a little?
My name is Jennifer Estep, and I’m a New York Times bestselling author. I write the Mythos Academy young adult urban fantasy series (First Frost) for Kensington and the Elemental Assassin urban fantasy series (Spider’s Bite) for Pocket Books. I’m also the author of the Bigtime paranormal romance series (Karma Girl).

Can you introduce us to the world that you have created?
The Mythos Academy books focus on Gwen Frost, a 17-year-old Gypsy girl who has the gift of psychometry, or the ability to know an object’s history just by touching it. After a serious freak-out with her magic, Gwen is shipped off to Mythos Academy, a school for the descendants of ancient warriors like Spartans, Valkyries, Amazons, and more.

Books in the series are Touch of Frost and Kiss of Frost. Dark Frost, the third book, will be published on May 29. First Frost, a prequel e-story, is also available, along with Halloween Frost, a short story in the Entangled e-anthology.

Will this be your first RT or are you a veteran? Any advice for those who are going for the first time?
I think this will be my third time at RT, and it’s a really fun event to attend. My advice would be to go through the schedule and mark the panels/events that you really want to go to. There’s so much going on that it helps to have a game plan of what you want to do and what day it’s on. Also, give yourself some time to get out of the hotel to do some sightseeing.

Are you speaking on any panels during RT? Are there any you are looking forward to?
I will be speaking on a couple of panels. As of right now, I’ll be participating on Murder, Mayhem and Madness: YA ACTION & SUSPENSE on Wednesday and Trends — What’s Hot, What’s Not & What’s Next in UF on Thursday. I’ll also be signing books in the YA Alley on Saturday, as well as doing some other YA events on Saturday.

There are so many interesting panels on the schedule. I know I won’t get to go to all of the ones that I want to, but I’m interested in attending some of the panels that deal with upcoming trends, marketing, and how to connect with readers, among other things.

If someone were wanting to meet up with you at RT, who should they look for?
The woman with the frizzy hair. The more humid it gets, the bigger my hair gets. LOL.

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.
