Look Who’s Going to RT: Tes Hilaire

Tes HilaireCan you introduce yourself to my readers a little?
I am a mom, a writer, and an avid reader—in that order. Beyond that I like piña coladas and getting caught in the rain… Oh wait, wrong bio. That one is the one I pass out to all those sexy, alpha heroes I keep reading about—would you believe they’re all taken? Geez. Anyway, since that one doesn’t seem to work, how about we go with the official one?

Daphne Award-winning author and former Tennessee native Tes Hilaire doesn’t remember how old she was when she wrote her first story, but she’s pretty sure it had something to do with a boy and a girl and a happily every after. Displaced at an early age to “the north country,” her stories turned darker as she started creating whole new worlds to escape the harsh, upstate NY winters. Now back in the South, her stories remain edgy, exciting, and bring a hint of dark fantasy to paranormal romance. Best of all, no one ever has to shovel snow. Can you introduce us to the world that you have created?
My debut series (Deliver Me from Darkness – available now; Deliver Me from Temptation – coming December from Sourcebooks) is centered around the mythos of the Paladin warriors. Descendants of volunteer angels, their task is to protect humankind from the likes of Lucifer and his minions. It’s been a really fun series to write because though my protagonists may be His warriors, they aren’t perfect, which makes for all kinds of possibilities in story lines ;-)

Will this be your first RT or are you a veteran? Any advice for those who are going for the first time?
I’ve been to RT once before. It was crazy! But oh so fun. If you’re going for the first time, my advice is to hang on and enjoy the ride ;-)

Are you speaking on any panels during RT? Are there any you are looking forward to?
I am not speaking this year, though I do plan to haunt some of my favorite authors panels: Kick-ass Characters That Make Us Keep Coming Back for More; Sex Throughout History; Kiss me, Kill me: Writing Action Scenes with Heart; Dytopian Delight – Making the Apocalypse Bad to the Bone.

If someone were wanting to meet up with you at RT, who should they look for?
I’ll be wearing my Tes Hilaire badge pretty much the whole time and promise to be out and about and not hanging in my room. I will also be signing at the Big Book Signing. If you do hunt me down, make sure to ask me about the Big-Basket-of-Books contest me and some authors have going on. I promise it will be worth your while!

About Jackie 3282 Articles
I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.
