Lethal Rider by Larissa Ione

LIone-Lethal RiderYou all may have to forgive me and overlook any over the top fangirl squeeing in this review. I absolutely LOVED Lethal Rider by Larissa Ione.  I love all of her PNR books (Demonica and Lords of Deliverance) series.  In my honest opinon, Larissa’s writing keeps getting better and better.

Thanatos, the most deadly Horseman of the Apocalypse, has endured thousands of years of celibacy to prevent the end of days. But just one night with the wickedly sexy Aegis Guardian, Regan Cooper, shatters centuries of resolve. Yet their passion comes with a price. And Thanatos must face a truth more terrifying than an apocalypse-he’s about to become a father.

Demon-slayer Regan Cooper never imagined herself the maternal type, but with the fate of the world hanging in the balance she had no choice but to seduce Thanatos and bear his child. Now, as the final battle draws closer and his rage at being betrayed is overshadowed by an undeniable passion for the mother of his child, Thanatos has a life-shattering realization: To save the world, he must sacrifice the only thing he’s ever wanted-a family.

I adore Than.  He really does remind me of my fave Demonica character, Wraith.  Big, bad alpha male who only shows his tender side to those he cares most about.  If you’ve read Immortal Rider, then you know Than was betrayed, in a pretty big way, by Regan.  Though…betrayed isn’t really accurate.  I don’t want really want to spoil all of that if you haven’t yet had a chance to read Immortal Rider.  Let’s just say that Than was pretty pissed at Regan, and it wasn’t completely unjustified anger.   The way Larissa got these two together and showed just how much Than and Regan were alike and how much they really needed each other was simply divine.

Regan is pretty darn awesome in her own right.  She’s tough and selfless and super caring.  All qualities for a great heroine.  The more I learned about her and her past, the more my heart broke for her and the more I couldn’t wait to see how she got to her HEA with Than (um, this is still a romance, so hopefully that there’s an HEA shouldn’t be a surprise/spoiler!).

The story is pretty much go go go from the beginning. There is rarely any lull in action or story line development.  For me to be enraptured from beginning to end is not an easy feat.  I tend to skim when there isn’t a lot going on and I didn’t find myself doing that with Lethal Rider.

Also, for you LoD fans, let me just give you a bit of a taunt…there is a BIG BIG BIG development in Lethal Rider. I wasn’t prepared for this particular development…er well OK I can’t really say more.  Once you read Lethal Rider, you’ll see what I’m talking about.  And feel free to find me on here or twitter and we can gab about it.  If I wasn’t already excited for Rogue Rider before, oooh boy I’m jonesing for it even more now!  I can’t say enough great things about Lethal Rider.  And yeah, I’ll say it again, Larissa’s stories and writing keep getting better and better and I can’t get enough.

  1. I thought Larissa really nailed it with these two characters, too! It was such a tough one to write (no spoilers!!) but everything happened for a reason and Larissa managed to communicate that in her writing! Agree, agree, agree!!! Great review! It’s tough to write w/out getting into the details, huh?

  2. Oh yeah, it can be really difficult to write up w/out details. Especially here b/c HOLY SMOKES!!! *G*
