Nicole and I are hijacking the rant this week, so we can talk about one of our favorite series, the Chicagoland Vampires by Chloe Neill. When we were given the chance to participate in Chloe’s first Spring Fling, we knew we wouldn’t have any problem coming up with something to say.

Why Nicole Loves these Books: Reason I love the Chicagoland vamps… I like that the series is a modern spin on traditional vamp lore. I also like that vamps and shifters are…cooperative. They don’t really get along but they tolerate each other. Another reason Chicagoland series is awesome… the variety of supernaturals. There isn’t just 1 type of supernatural in her world….oh and there’s a blonde, British vamp as the hero and if you know me, you know I have a big soft spot for blonde, British vamps. *G*
Why Jackie Loves these Books: Reason I love the Chicagoland vamps… because Chloe Neill isn’t afraid to hold any punches. She does the unexpected with her characters and she makes their reactions and their feelings seem more real. She completely hooked me on this series when, in the first novel Some Girls Bite, she didn’t have her character just roll over and say oh well, I’m a vampire now. This wasn’t what Merit wanted and she wasn’t all thankful about it. I don’t know how many series I’ve read where the characters are introduced to vampires and they just go with it – who does that?! Your life was just turned upside down, you can no longer see the sun and you’re okay with it? I don’t know anyone who would be okay with that, and Merit totally isn’t. She doesn’t just sit there and accept it. Instead we get to see her transform from a graduate student to a badass vampire with all the emotional and physical baggage. It’s not just with Merit either; over the course of the series you get to see how each of the side characters grow and develop in whatever role they play.

I would say that it’s a very good series about vampires. I would also say that the Chicagoland vampires’ series is very good because it combine action, romance, and the characters are very funny.
(I make my sister and one of my friend read the books and they both really liked it.)
I love this series because Merit is very funny, and i LOVE Ethan. I love the relationship between them :) I would love to see more of Morgan (i like him even if i prefer Ethan).

I’ve posted reviews of the entire series on my blog to convince people to read this series. It’s an original spin on the paranormal with fun and witty characters. Most of the characters are so easy to fall in love with and that’s what keeps readers coming back. Plus, you really never know what’s going to happen.
I love Chicagoland vampires for many of the same reasons I’d use to convince someone to read the books. The characters are great, the plots are original, and the relationship between Ethan and Merit is enticing.
Well, I haven’t read the series but I would treat it like all the other books I’ve loved and hound my friends and family to pick it up. Then I would sit back and smile as they gushed over how much they loved it
I would buy them a copy of “Some Girls Bite” if I had to and tell them that this is different than any other vampire series out there. I also would tell them about how much I enjoy Merit and Ethan and how original the series is.
Well I haven’t read them yet, but I’ve heard such great things (aka my friend told me I HAD to read them) that I can’t wait to read them myself!
To get someone to read the Chicagoland Vampire series, I’d hand them my copy of Some Girls Bite and say “Read this or suffer the consequences.” I might even tell them a bit about the plot, but that is essentially how I was recommended the books.
I love the series for many reasons. One, I live in Chicago so I get all fan-girl when Chloe writes about different places that I know/pass everyday. Two, I feel very attached to the characters. They are extremely well developed, Merit especially. I feel like I’m reading about a real person. Some authors tend to focus just on plot and don’t delve into their character development as much as they should. Chloe’s characters are 3 dimensional in every way. They jump off the page and you can’t help but get lost in their world.
I was cruising through and realized I didn’t answer all of the questions. I posted why I liked the books. Obviously I would like to see Ethan more in them because I think he’s awesome. As far as getting a friend to read them. As far as convincing goes, I would just buy them the book. LoL That’s what I always do. I can tell them how great the book is and how funny the dialogue is but if I buy the book for them, then I know that they will read it :o)
