Glitch by Heather Anastasiu

HAnastasiu-Glitched

HAnastasiu-GlitchedHonestly, when I first started reading Glitch by Heather Anastasui, I didn’t expect much. I thought it would be just another YA dystopian book. I have never been so happy to be so wrong.

In the Community, there is no more pain or war. Implanted computer chips have wiped humanity clean of destructive emotions, and thoughts are replaced by a feed from the Link network.

When Zoe starts to malfunction (or “glitch”), she suddenly begins having her own thoughts, feelings, and identity. Any anomalies must be immediately reported and repaired, but Zoe has a secret so dark it will mean certain deactivation if she is caught: her glitches have given her uncontrollable telekinetic powers.

As Zoe struggles to control her abilities and stay hidden, she meets other glitchers including Max, who can disguise his appearance, and Adrien, who has visions of the future. Together, this growing band of glitchers must find a way to free themselves from the controlling hands of the Community before they’re caught and deactivated, or worse.

Glitch did start out like a typical dystopian with the one girl who is different in a world where everyone is supposed to be the same. Then the plot exploded with action. The plot was full of so many twists and turns that I had no idea what was going to happen or even if every character would live to see the end. I was on the edge of my seat, ripping through the pages to see how it could possibly end.

Zoe may not seem like the typical, strong heroine but she had an inner core of iron. She had to hide her emotions while trying to figure out what each one was. She only had old textbooks to use as guidelines but then she was suddenly thrust into this whirlwind adventure that caused her emotions to swirl out of control. She had to learn to trust her instincts, which was difficult for her at first, but she grew exponentially during Glitch and will only continue to grow.

Adrien and Max were two totally different guys. I don’t want to get into details because anything I say will give away some plot twist, but Adrien is mine. Mine, mine, mine!

All I can say about Glitch is wow. It blew my mind away, sucked me into the story and left me dying for more! I laughed, cried and screamed in frustration with Zoe, swooned over Adrien and wanted to kick some bad guys’ butts. Yeah, Glitch was that crackin’ amazing. The only thing I have left to say is, when is the sequel coming out?! I need it NOW!
