Contest: Widow’s Web by Jennifer Estep

JEstep-Widows WebThanks to the wonderful people at Pocket Books, I happen to have a shiny ARC of Jennifer Estep’s next Elemental Assassin’s novel, Widow’s Web to give away.

My name is Gin, and I kill people. It’s something I’ve been doing for years as the assassin called Spider, but now, it’s turned into a necessity on my part just to survive all the lowlifes in Ashland who are gunning for me. The underworld is still in turmoil, and I seem to be on everyone’s hit list these days.

To add to Gin’s problems, her lover Owen’s ex is in town. Salina is back in Ashland to reclaim an old family legacy—and she thinks that Owen is hers for the taking. Also in the mix is Phillip Kincaid, a casino owner and all-around shady character who has a mysterious connection to both Owen and Salina.

Salina might seem like a sweet Southern belle, but there’s more to her than meets the eye. Her water elemental magic makes her a dangerous enemy—and someone who can go toe-to-toe with Gin’s Ice and Stone power. But Gin is determined to get to the bottom of Salina’s deadly scheme, even though it just might cost her everything…including Owen.

Meet Jennifer Estep!

Jennifer writes the Elemental Assassin urban fantasy series for Pocket Books. The books focus on Gin Blanco, an assassin code named the Spider who can control the elements of Ice and Stone. When she’s not busy killing people and righting wrongs, Gin runs a bar be cue restaurant called the Pork Pit in the fictional Southern metropolis of Ash land. The city is also home to giants, dwarves, vampires, and elementals – Air, Fire, Ice, and Stone.

Jennifer also writes the Mythos Academy young adult urban fantasy series for Kensington. The books focus on Gwen Frost, a 17-year-old Gypsy girl who has the gift of psychometry, or the ability to know an object’s history just by touching it. After a serious freak-out with her magic, Gwen is shipped off to Mythos Academy, a school for the descendants of ancient warriors like Spartans, Valkyries, Amazons, and more.

Contest Time!

To enter for a chance to win either, all you have to do is answer this one question: Which Elemental Assassin character do you like and why? If you haven’t read the series yet, what is drawing you to it? Remember, you must answer the question in order to be entered.

Even though I’m not giving the additional entries any more, you can still help support Jennifer by sharing this contest, on your blog, Twitter, Facebook, or anywhere you can. After all, the more people who are aware of this fabulous author ensures we get more fabulous stories.

The winner must post a review of the novel someplace. Whether it is on their own blog, Amazon, GoodReads, LibraryThing or wherever, it doesn’t matter. Just help get the word out.

The contest will stay open until July 31th at which time I’ll determine the winner with help from the snazzy new plug-in I have.

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.

  1. Oooh, I want! I’m completely hooked on this series. Asking me to pick a favorite character is really hard because I love all of them, but I guess aside from Gin, my favorite is Owen. He’s such a great match for her and I love how he never tries to hold her back from the things she feels she has to do, even when he knows she might be hurt or killed. Instead he gives her 100% support.

  2. I haven’t read this series but the blurb sounds REALLY good!! This line alone is enough to make me want to read more: “My name is Gin, and I kill people.” :) I’d love a chance to find a new author!! Thanks for offering the contest!!

  3. My favorite (other than Gin, obviously) is Finn. He is hysterical and offers great comic relief. And I especially like that he is going after Bria and they’re getting involved. :)

  4. For Mother’s Day this year I treated myself to the entire elemental assassin series as of that date and read it all the way through LOL What an incredible treat that was. I love Gin! She is so strong and kick ###, yet has her own vulnerabilities that keep her from being a cartoon character. I am so excited to continue the journey and really appreciate the opportunity to win the next installment.

  5. Other than Gin, my favorite character is Owen. He is just so fiercely loyal to Gin, and her family as well. I love him so much!

  6. I love em all!! Gin is awesome, i love the relationship dynamics between her and her sister.. Owen is awesome, would love there to be a happy ending for him and Gin.. Sofia .. i would love to know more about her..

  7. I havent’ read this series yet. It sounds fantastic…a kick ass heroine, tons of action and bit of romance thrown in as well. Just what I love.

    Thanks for the chance!

  8. I have heard so many good things about her novels! I needs to my hands on one! Thanks for the giveaway!

  9. Thanks for a fabulous giveaway! This is one of my favorite series! I’ve been counting down the days until this book release! For me, it’s a toss up between the men in Gin’s life, Owen and Finn, and Sophia! I’m so very glad that Gin and Bria finally came to an understanding… that was dragging on a bit and I wanted to slap Bria :)

  10. Owen Grayson is my favorite character, because he not only accepts Gin as she is, but is there to support her in whatever way he can – by making her awesome weapons, being badass himself, or just loving her. So much better than Donovan Caine.

  11. Hmm, tough question since there are a bunch of great cast members in this series. I think I will go with Owen though. Whenever he is around, I just get excited.

  12. Oh gods, there are so many great characters in this series it’s hard to choose just one, but if pressed I guess I’d go with Gin. I love how she always tries to do the right thing, always tries to protect those she loves, always makes the hard decisions…even if it costs her everything and makes her the bad guy.

  13. Oh I LOVE this series!!! It’s hard to pick my favorite but as I am in love with Owen, Gin is just kick-ass. Oh Finn is freakin hilarious :D

  14. I love Fletcher and the legacy that he left Gin. I don’t think that we’ve even seen a tenth of what he was, and what he had planned for Gin which makes me love him more. He was very human, he wasn’t just the Tin Man and he passed that on to Gin. She isn’t just the Spider, and she doesn’t just have associates, she has family. I love how she always learns something about him in the least likely of places from seemingly random people. It never changes how much she loves him, it only proves why she loves him.

  15. Love this series, can’t wait for Widow’s Web. It is so hard to pick a favorite character but I would have to pick Fletcher Lane, the Tin Man himself. I know he has been dead since the first book, but I still love learning a little bit more about him in every book. He is a fascinating character!

  16. Sophie – most definitely Sophie! I LOVE her wardrobe!

Thanks for the chance to win!

  17. I love Gin!!! From the very first line which made me buy the book!!! “Hi my name is Gin I kill people” lol No excuses just bam there it is!!! She makes me smile with how she puts family first :) And my second is Owen besides the fact he is sexy and I want my own Owen :) He backs her to the fullest no questions asked and he makes sure she has weapons designed especially for her to bring her home!! What more can you ask for in a man!!

  18. I’ve had this series on my “to read” list this year, and I just started Spider’s Bite this week. So far really enjoying it! Would love to get the latest!

  19. I *blush* haven’t read this series yet but I have read The Frost series and enjoyed it. I hear good things about this on so I guess the answer would be past experience with the author and word of mouth (the handsell).

  20. i love all the characters in this series, but I think that Sophia & Finn are my two favorites. They are both funny, but in completely opposite ways. Finn is over the top where Sophia is understated & subtle. But they both share the quality of doing anything necessary to help the people they love. can’t wait to read the new book!!!!
