Biting Cold Scavenger Hunt

Chloe NeillI am excited to welcome author Chloe Neill, who is getting ready to release her sixth Chicagoland Vampires novel, Biting Cold. Literary Escapism has the next world in the Biting Cold Scavenger Hunt and we have a pretty sweet contest to go along with it as well.

Turned into a vampire against her will, twenty-eight-year-old Merit found her way into the dark circle of Chicago’s vampire underground, where she learned there was more to supernaturals than met the eye—and more supernaturals than the public ever imagined. And not all the secrets she learned were for sharing—among humans or inhumans.

Now Merit is on the hunt, charging across the stark American Midwest, tailing a rogue supernatural intent on stealing an ancient artifact that could unleash catastrophic evil on the world. But Merit is also the prey. An enemy of Chicagoland is hunting her, and he’ll stop at nothing to get the book for himself. No mercy allowed. No rules apply. No lives spared. The race is on.

Want to know what we thought here at LE? Here are the reviews by Jackie and Nicole. Make sure you stick around to the end. We’ll be giving away a copy of Biting Cold.

Meet Chloe Neill!

Chloe Neill is the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of the Chicagoland Vampires and Dark Elite series.

She was born and raised in the South, but now makes her home in the Midwest–just close enough to Cadogan House and St. Sophia’s to keep an eye on things. When not transcribing Merit’s and Lily’s adventures, she bakes, works, and scours the Internet for good recipes and great graphic design. Chloe also maintains her sanity by spending time with her boys–her favorite landscape photographer/husband and their dogs, Baxter and Scout. (Both she and the photographer understand the dogs are in charge.)

Contest Time!

Thank you Chloe for letting Literary Escapism take part in the Biting Cold scavenger hunt!

Chloe is giving away a copy of Biting Cold and a package of Chicagoland Vampires and Dark Elite swag. To enter, all you have to do is answer this one question: What do you think Mallory’s punishment should be once she’s caught? What are you most anticipating from Biting Cold? Remember, you must answer the question in order to be entered.

Even though I’m not giving the additional entries any more, you can still help support the author by sharing their article, and this contest, on your blog, Twitter, Facebook, or anywhere you can. After all, the more people who are aware of this fabulous author ensures we get more fabulous stories.

The winner must post a review of the novel someplace. Whether it is on their own blog, Amazon, GoodReads, LibraryThing or wherever, it doesn’t matter. Just help get the word out.

The contest will stay open until August 15th at which time I’ll determine the winner with help from the snazzy new plug-in I have.

About Jackie 3282 Articles
I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.

  1. I think Mallory’s powers should be stripped but I guess there would be no Ethan if it weren’t for her. So maybe powers reduced??? Guess we will find out.

Looking forward to Merit and Ethan’s relationship, it was just a tease at the end of Drink Deep!!!

    Can’t wait for the book!!!!!!

  2. I agree that her powers should be stripped or she should be put to death…a death scene could be good

  3. Mallory needs to go through some kind of magical rehab. I think killing her or having her powers taken away is a little extreme, but then again I’m a softy lol. I’ll leave the punishment up to Ms. Neill!

  4. I think she should be imprisioned with all her powers stripped. She’s going freaking crazy! I am so excited for this book. Thanks so much for sharing!

  5. Her powers should be stripped, but I also like the idea of Magical Rehab. Maybe strip her powers until she can prove she deserves them?

  6. I think Mallory needs to go through some kind of therapy/rehab, because she was pushed too quickly and obviously not monitored enough.

I’m looking forward to Merit and Ethan together again – I love their scenes together. They have made me both laugh and cry.

  7. I am going to steal somebody else’s idea because it was so good:

and… I am looking forward to some Ethan and Merit quality time!

  8. I agree with everyone else, her powers should be stripped or she should only be allowed to use certain spells that only allows her to use her magic for good. I’m most looking forward to Ethan and Merit being together :D

  9. I think Mallory should have to serve Cadogan House and/or the supes of Chicago to attone for wrecking the city.

I am most looking forward to Merit and Ethan finally, FINALLY being together!

  10. Oh man! That’s what’s killing me! Mallory! Besides Ethan coming back! Der! :D

But punishment? Hmm…maybe she can be grounded from her powers for a year. It seems like she shouldn’t be using them anymore at all, but they are pretty much apart of her now, it would be cruel to take them away permanently! But if that is what has to be done, so be it.

But I’d say a year without powers. If that can be managed!

Looking forward to the Mallory solving issue in Biting Cold and hoping for some more Ethan time!

  11. I think Mallory should be forced to do MANY hours of community service, hopefully away from any libraries or magical artifacts. :)

  12. My first thought: Strip her witch powers but then I figured that wouldn’t hurt as much as being restricted on how she could use her powers!

  13. Im not sure what should happen to Mallory, sorceress community service? Detox? Dark magic rehab?
I’m just excited to see the story continue, being from Chicago, I love being able to pinpoint where she’s talking about!
Thanks so much for the giveaway!

  14. I think Mallory should have her powers restricted so even if she wants to use it she can’t. And of course she should have to clean up the mess she made.

  15. I think mallory Should have her powers stripped. I am most looking forward to merit and ethans relationship development.

  16. Everyone seems to think her powers should be stripped but won’t that cause Ethan to dissappear?

That was my first thought, but now I think somehow Ethan should overpower Mallory in some way. Like he has a sort of magic to over-ride hers. Or he changes her into a vampire of sorts causing a shared magic connection.

Or perhaps they bind Mallory’s powers and in the process somehow even though the connection is broken a new one is formed with Merit and Ethan so if one dies they both end up dying or something.

Just pondering what’s going to happen is getting me all giddy. I can’t wait!!!

  17. Definitely strip her of her powers and let her live the life of an average human while having to do many hours of community service.

Can’t wait to read Biting Cold!

  18. Mallory’s powers should be restrained someway since she isn’t capable of handling that power responsibly. I’m looking forward to the chemistry between Ethan and Merit while the face new challenges. Want to see how Jonah and Morgan play out as well.

  19. I don’t necessarily think Mallory’s should be striped, but I do think they should somehow be revoked and her go through some type of mental health treatment. Then if she ever goes back to being normal and not power crazed she should get her powers back. Because even though she did evil things, she still tried to do some good.
