Contest: Gunmetal Magic by Ilona Andrews

IAndrews-Gunmetal MagicContest is closed!

Thanks to the wonderful people at Penguin, I happen to have a shiny new copy of Ilona Andrews’ Gunmetal Magic to give away.

Some people have everything figured out — Andrea Nash is not one of those people. After being kicked out of the Order of Knights of Merciful Aid, Andrea’s whole existence is in shambles. All she can do is try to put herself back together, something made easier by working for Cutting Edge, a small investigative firm owned by her best friend, Kate Daniels.

When several shapeshifters working for Raphael Medrano — the male alpha of Clan Bouda and Andrea’s former lover — die unexpectedly at a dig site, Andrea is assigned to investigate … and must work with Raphael. As her search for the killer leads her into the secret underbelly of supernatural Atlanta, Andrea knows that dealing with her feelings for Raphael might have to take a backseat to saving the world …

Meet Ilona Andrews!

Ilona Andrews is the pseudonym for a husband-and-wife writing team. Ilona is a native-born Russian and Gordon is a former communications sergeant in the U.S. Army. Contrary to popular belief, Gordon was never an intelligence officer with a license to kill, and Ilona was never the mysterious Russian spy who seduced him. They met in college, in English Composition 101, where Ilona got a better grade. (Gordon is still sore about that.)

Gordon and Ilona currently reside in Texas with their two children, and many dogs and cats. They have co-authored two series, the bestselling urban fantasy of Kate Daniels and romantic urban fantasy of The Edge.

Contest Time!

To enter for a chance to win Gunmetal Magic, all you have to do is answer this one question: Which Kate Daniels character do you like and why? Who would you like to see find their special someone? If you haven’t read the series yet, what is drawing you to it? Remember, you must answer the question in order to be entered.

Even though I’m not giving the additional entries any more, you can still help support Ilona by sharing this contest, on your blog, Twitter, Facebook, or anywhere you can. After all, the more people who are aware of this fabulous author ensures we get more fabulous stories.

The winner must post a review of the novel someplace. Whether it is on their own blog, Amazon, GoodReads, LibraryThing or wherever, it doesn’t matter. Just help get the word out.

The contest will stay open until July 31th at which time I’ll determine the winner with help from the snazzy new plug-in I have.

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.

  1. I’d love to see Derek meet someone (although I have a sneaking suspicion he already has, and it will just take a while to unfold). I adore this series and need this book ASAP. Pretty please?

  2. I love Dali. She’s the first shape changer that I’ve read that isn’t graceful and it’s nice to see that not everyone is perfect. She’s still able to take care of herself, even though she is clumsy and can’t see well.

  3. I love Derek and can’t wait for him to get together with his special someone *cough* Julie *cough*,
Ilona Andrews’ world building and use of tales, pantheons and monsters from all over the world really is the best I’ve ever read. Can’t wait for more from her…er…them. :)

  4. Kate is my favorite, but I feel invested in so many of the other characters as well. I would love for Andrea & Raphael to work things out. And I would really like to see Derek happy. This is my favorite urban fantasy series, without a doubt. Can’t wait to read Gunmetal Magic!

  5. It’s difficult to pick a favorite character, because they are all so well done.

Kate and Curran are obvious choices, but if forced, I have to pick Derek. No wait, Dali. No, Derek. But Kate! Or maybe Curran. Oh, and forgot about Jim! No… definitely Derek.

    See? ;)

  6. My favorite character is Kate. I love a kick ass heroine!
And I have been waiting for a book about Raphael. How an you not love a guy who breaks in to his love interest’s house to leave her a gift of tons of sexy panties?!!

  7. I love Kate! This is definitely my favorite series right now! I’d love to read Derek’s story sometime soon! *crosses fingers*

  8. Well I had always wanted to know more about Andrea and Raphael, which is why I have been anxiously waiting for this book. Another person that I want to have their happy ending is Derek. He has gone through so much.

  9. Kate is definitely my favorite character, but Derek is the one I’m hoping finds his special someone. I’m rooting for him and Julie. Thanks for the giveaway!

  10. My favourite character, other than Kate and Curran, is Andrea, which is why I’m so excited for this book. (And so jealous that you got an ARC!) I can’t wait to see what happens between her and Raphael. Thanks for the giveaway!

  11. My favorite character is definitely Kate and like most people here, I’d like to see Derek find his special someone.

  12. Thanks for a fabulous giveaway! My friend just gave me the first couple of books in this series and I’m so excited to start reading!!! I’ve read such awesome reviews for this series and I think that I’m the only one who hasn’t read it yet. I live under a rock, but it’s comfy and customized :)

  13. Kate is totally one of my favorites, but seeing how she’s found her someone already, I’m going to vote for Derek. Here’s hoping!

  14. I love them all but Kate rocks. She’s my favorite with Derek a close seconds

  15. I really like Julie as a character, and what happens to her at the end of Magic Slays has me really worried about both her and Kate.

  16. Derek has been a favorite of mine for some time now and I would LOVE to read a book on him. Or even see Julie or Arsenio!

  17. Kate and Curran are my favorite characters. I would love for Derek to find his someone special. Thanks so much for the giveaway!

  18. Now that we’re sitting back and watching Jim have a not-at-all-smooth romance, I’d like to see Derek.

Mostly because I hope he falls for Julie, or she finds someone else and so does he. So I guess I would like them both to resolve their romance at the same time, with each other or other people.

Not that I’m the boss or anything. I feel that their happiness is tied together, either romantically or in family-type ways.

  19. The world-building is drawing me to the series. When there’s magic and shapeshifters involved I think that there is so many possibilities for me to be surprised and taken with the story. Plus the heroine sounds strong which is a trait I appreciate.

  20. Curran is my favorite character. He is strong and his were-animal is completely awesome! He is a good protector and really cares about his responsibilities. Thank you for the chance for such a great give away!

  21. Dali and Aunt Bea are my favorite secondary characters but both of them already have (or had in Aunt Bea’s case) a special someone.

  22. I would love for Derek and Julie to get shots at stories of their own, but skipped ahead some so that they’re older, wiser, and free from Kate’s drama. I also want Jennifer to have a second chance at happily ever after. As for my favourite character…I have to go with Kate and Curran. I love seeing how they change and grow as a couple and as individuals.
