Booklovers Meme

I came across this meme on my PNR discussion group and I thought I would post it here as a break between the reviews that are coming (I still have reviews for Dead and Gone and Destined to an Early Grave to hopefully write tonight.  Anyway, this should be pretty self explanatory.

What author do you own the most books by?
At the moment, it’ll have to be Laurell K Hamilton.  I have all of her books, except for Nightseer, and she’s one of my automatic buys (once they hit paperback unless I get to see her).  I would also have to save that I have a lot of Nora Roberts too.  Actually, yeah, I have more NR than LKH, but one is straight romance and the other gives me vampires and shapeshifters.

What fictional character are you secretly in love with?
I don’t really think there is one character that I’m secretly in love with.  However, the ones who always comes to mind whenever I’m asked this is Drake Vireo from Katie MacAlister’s Aislin Grey series and Nathaniel from LKH’s Anita Blake series. I didn’t realize I was a shapeshifter girl, but if I had to pick a vampire too, it would have to be Jeaniene Frost’s Bones.  Oh yeah.

What book have you read more than any other?
I think it could be a toss up between Outlander by Diana Gabaldon and Blue Moon by LKH.  I know whenever I’m in the mood for LKH or can’t pick a book, I generally reach for Blue Moon.  However, I do try and read the entire Outlander series before each book comes out, so I’m going to say it’s a tie between these two.

What was your favorite book when you were ten years old?
Charlotte’s Web by EB White.  I used to read it at least every year.  Plus, it’s the only book I really remember owning during my pre-teen years.

What is the worst book you’ve read in the past year?
I’m pleading the fifth here.  I wouldn’t say that I’ve read any bad novels in the past year, but there were a few that weren’t to my liking.  And no this isn’t a cop-out.  Just because I didn’t like them, doesn’t mean someone else won’t and I really don’t want to single any one book out.

What is the best book you’ve read in the past year?
Probably At Grave’s End and Destined to an Early Grave by Jeaniene Frost.  Wicked Lovely by Melissa Marr is probably another one.

What is your favorite novel?
I don’t think I have a favorite novel, but favorite series.  And even then, I don’t just have one.  I love LKH’s Anita Blake, Jeaniene Frost’s Night Huntress, Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander, Keri Arthur’s Riley Jensen, Charlaine Harris’s Southern Vampire Mysteries and Kim Harrison’s Rachel Morgan series.  Every single one of them are automatic buys for me.

Who is your favorite writer?
Diana Gabaldon.  Hands down.  I love her storytelling and the way she brings her characters alive.  She’s the one author where I won’t wait for the novel to come out in paperback to buy.  I hit the bookstores at dawn on the day her books are released and I pay the hardcover price.

Who is the most overrated writer alive today?
I would probably say Stephen King simple because he bored me with It.  When I read it, I picked it up because one of my favorite actors was in the movie version and I wanted to read the book.  I didn’t even get 1/3 of the way through before I chucked it out.  All the flashbacks were annoying.  I know I shouldn’t judge an author on one book, but he just never sits well with me.

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.
