School’s In: Alexandra Ivy with Levet (+Contest)

Schools In (200px)It’s that time of year again. Everyone is going back to school and so is Alexandra Ivy’s Levet from Fear the Darkness.

Her Visions Lead Her To Danger
Beautiful Cassandra is a Were, a prophet both vulnerable and defiant, blessed with visions that portend the fate of the world. A rare and delicate creature, Cassie must be protected at all costs. Enter Caine, a powerful cur turned pureblooded Were whose recent tangles with a demon lord have left him in serious need of redemption. Caine is duty-bound to keep Cassie out of danger—and that means resisting his potent urge to seduce her.

And Only He Can Save Her
As Cassie’s mysterious visions lead them in and out of danger, Caine believes he has found his true mate, the woman with whom he is bound for all eternity. Cassie is both charmed and frightened by Caine’s magnetism, and unsure if he—or her feelings for him—can be trusted. But Cassie can’t afford to doubt Cain now. A deadly enemy bent on destruction is closer than they realize—and only they can keep chaos from ruling the world.

Make sure you stick around to the end. We’ll be giving away a copy of Fear the Darkness.

School of Hard Knocks

AIvy-Fear the Darkness It’s no big surprise that Levet didn’t have the fondest memories of his time in the Gargoyle Guild school. Sacrebleu, that was the understatement of the century. Hard to enjoy nights spent being tormented by his fellow students for being only three foot tall instead of the massive nine foot of his siblings, and having wings that were a delicate gossamer that shimmered in shades of blue and gold and crimson more suitable for a fairy than a gargoyle. Even his magic was a source of scorn. He was a prince who was expected to impress the entire class the first day of school, but instead his spells sputtered and fizzled.

Just like his love life.

He’s the center of every cruel joke, but his siblings weren’t satisfied with merely punishing him verbally. They began tossing him into the fighting pit with the most vicious creatures in the world. After all, what was funnier than a miniature gargoyle being ripped apart by an ogre three times his size?

Still, like many of us, Levet managed to survive the horrors of school. And while he would never be happy that he’d been brutalized by his own people, he knew that the experience had made him a stronger, and far more capable of standing on his own two feet. He learned that he didn’t need his Guild to build a worthy life or to become a hero.

But more importantly, those days taught him to reach out to those in need. Those who are smaller or more vulnerable. Those who are afraid. And those who simply need a friend.

And he knows, when the time is right, he will return home and prove to his savage classmates that size truly doesn’t matter…

Contest Time!

Thank you Alexandra for taking part in Literary Escapism’s School’s in!

Alexandra is giving away a copy of Fear the Darkness. To enter, all you have to do is answer this one question: Was there a lesson from school that you still remember to this day? Remember, you must answer the question in order to be entered. (US only)

Even though I’m not giving the additional entries any more, you can still help support the author by sharing their article, and this contest, on your blog, Twitter, Facebook, or anywhere you can. After all, the more people who are aware of this fabulous author ensures we get more fabulous stories.

The winner must post a review of the novel someplace. Whether it is on their own blog, Amazon, GoodReads, LibraryThing or wherever, it doesn’t matter. Just help get the word out.

All School’s In contests will remain open until October 7th at which time I’ll determine the winner with help from the snazzy new plug-in I have. Have you checked out the other Black Friday contests yet? Check out the Master List to see all the Black Friday giveaways

I have not been contacting winners, so you will need to check back to see if you’ve won.

About Jackie 3282 Articles
I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.

  1. I remember I had this fabulous English teacher in 8th grade. In one quarter she taught us Greek Mythology. I don’t know how she did it but she made it so funny and interesting. I’m still interested in mythology to this day.

  2. Thanks for a great post and giveaway!

I had an awesome HS chemistry teacher named Mr. Ray. He was such a dry, sarcastic fellow and everyone loved him. He was an alternate to go on the Challenger and he hated the notoriety. I just remember his dry warnings… “when you heat things up, they get hot!” and yet someone always managed to catch a sleeve on fire from the bunson burners at least once a year :)

  3. I had a great Arthurian Legends teacher. We had a mock trial (Tristan vs. King Mark) and I learned some valuable public speaking techniques

  4. I learned a lesson my freshman year in high school – I had to do an oral report with another person, and they didn’t want to do it so I gave up and didn’t do it either. I flunked the class and had to take it over. I learned that when it comes to my success, I need to be responsible for my own and not give in to other’s pressure to give up. I also learned that it was a lot easier to pass a class in summer school, so I took the next difficult class ahead of time in the summer and it was a breeze. :D

  5. In school I had a great science teacher that encouraged curiosity and imagination. He was one of the few people who didnt put down the paranormal and actually believed the saying “There are more things in heaven and earth, Than are dreamt of in our philosophy”. It kept my imagination alive. And a good thing too as I am in great company with wonderful authors like Alexandra Ivy.

  6. The lesson that has had the greatest impact upon my lifebwas my first book report. I chose Little House on the Prarie (It was a popular tv show way back then). The book was very thick and when it came time to actually do the report I wanted to change my mind. I tried to tell my mom the book was to big, howerver, she would’nt budge. She forced me to read the entire book. That act was one of the greatest gifts she ever gave me! By the time i finished my book I loved reading! And now here I am today a full fledged book junky, all stemming back to a school book report!

  7. The lesson I remember most was that boys and Shakespeare do not go well together. Reading OTHELLO was awful. Those boys couldn’t get past the word cuckold.

  8. It’s a little silly, but I still remember my teacher in third grade telling us “never eat soggy waffles” to remember the order on a compass (NESW). There’s a lot of things I’ve forgotten, but I still remember her saying this to us.

  9. Due to a song we had to sing for chorus in elementary school, I can recite all 50 states in alphabetic order.
I don’t remember a lot from school but I do remember that. :)
