School’s In: Jus Accardo & Dez, Kale, and Alex (Contest)

Schools In (200px)It’s that time of year again. Everyone is going back to school and so is Jus Accardo’s Dez, Kale, and Alex from Toxic.

When a Six saved Kale’s life the night of Sumrun, she warned there would be consequences. A trade-off. Something taken for the life they gained. But Dez never imagined she’d lose the one thing she’d give anything to keep… And as if it’s not enough Dez finds her immunity to Kale fading, the Six brought in to help Kale learn to control his killer touch starts drooling on him the moment they meet. Worse than that? Jade can touch Kale. But bimbo Barbie is the least of Dez’s problems.

After Dez and Kale got away at Sumrun, her father lost not only his most powerful weapon but an important piece of the Supremacy project. Forced by Denazen to remedy the situation, he poisons Dez and offers her a choice—surrender to Denazen for the cure…or die. Determined to find a solution that doesn’t involve being bagged and tagged—or losing someone she loves—Dez keeps the poison a secret. But when a rash of Denazen attacks hit a little too close to home, Dez is convinced there’s a traitor among them. Jade.

Sacrifices, broken promises, and secrets. Dez will have to lay it all on the line if there’s any hope of proving Jade’s guilt before they all end up Residents of Denazen. Or worse, dead…

Make sure you stick around to the end. We’ll be giving away an ecopy of Toxic and a Denazen swag pack.

Dez, Kale, and Alex

JAccardo-ToxicJus: Hey guys! I’m hanging here today, and I brought Dez, Kale and Alex along to talk about their most memorable first day of school. Dez, why don’t you start things off? Tell us about your most memorable first day…

Dez: I think it has to be the year I got my first detention.

Alex: You got detention on the first day of school?

Kale: Detention?

Dez: *looks proud* Yep. Kindergarten. *turns to Kale* Detention is kind of like an after school time out.

Alex: Do they even give detention in Kindergarten?

Dez: *grins* I bet I was the first.

Kale: What did you do?

Dez: I was totally justified. Tommy Manchester stole my red Lego. When I tried to take it back, he hit me. All I did was hit him back.

Alex: *narrows eyes* How many times did you hit him?

Dez: Just once! *blushes* With a chair. You know, one of those plastic booster seats?

Alex: *groans*

Kale: *takes Dez’s hand and smiles* I would have done the same thing.

Alex: Sure you would. Suck up.

Jus: Oooookay. So Alex, wanna tell us about your most memorable first day of school?

Alex: Oh, that’s easy. Eight grade.

Dez: What was so special about eight grade?

Alex: Three words for you. *hold up fingers and ticks them off* Girls locker room.

Dez: I don’t get it.

Alex: You know the west wall of the girl’s locker room?

Dez: The one they replaced a few years back? Didn’t someone drive through the building?

Alex: *grins* Yep.

Dez: *eyes widening* OhMyGod! Was that you?

Alex: Nah. I was outside though. The entire cheerleading squad was in the locker room. Best back to school gift ever. No one was hurt. All it did was knock the wall down enough to give a few lucky bastards a bird’s eye view.

Kale: *shakes head* Pathetic.

Alex: Why is he even here? He’s never been to school.

Kale: *leans a bit closer to Alex* True, but Denazen did teach me things. I’d be more than happy to show you what I learned on my first day of training…

Jus: *jumps between the two boys* Annnnd we’re done here!

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.

  1. I’d have to say my first day of 7th grade. I couldn’t find my homeroom. The JH principal wound up showing me where it was (upstairs).

  2. when I was in primary school, my younger brother got stung by a bee in the eye while we were waiting for the bus on the first day of school. I’ll never forget that.

  3. The most memorable day of school was the day that some crazy, scary looking hobo came on campus. The staff freaked out and put us under lock down. Which meant that there were approximately 25 high school students locked into an itty bitty little bathroom, so we would be “safe.” Um, yeah. Turns out the guy was just really drunk and not out to kill us all.

  4. Thank you for that sensible critique. Me & my neighbour were preparing to do some research about that. We acquired a good book on that matter from our local library and most books exactly where not as influensive as your details. Im really glad to see such facts which I was searching for a long time.

  5. But yeah Many thanks for taking the time to chat about this, I consider strongly about it and in actuality like learning more on this topic. If possible, as you gain expertise, would you mind updating your website with more information? It is extremely helpful for me.

  6. I actually can’t remember a single first day of school. I still remember all the stress of preparing for the first day. But none of them were all that memorable to have stuck with me.

  7. I really don’t have a memorable first day of school. I really just remember all the lines of cars just to get to a spot where I could be dropped off.

  8. Sixth grade. My first day of middle school. It was stressful enough that the sixth graders didn’t get lockers and this was my first time having multiple teachers/classes. But I also had a huge cold sore right in the middle of my upper lip. I was so self-conscious that I really didn’t want to go to school until it went away. And to make it worse, my homeroom teacher took everyone’s picture, so the cold sore was immortalized even after it was gone. :(

  9. My most memorable first day of school? When I saw the new guy who came in our school. He was so beautiful. I had a huge crush on him for a long time. I still remember him.
