School’s In: Mari Mancusi & Rayne McDonald (Contest)

Schools In (200px)It’s that time of year again. Everyone is going back to school and so is Mari Mancusi’s Rayne McDonald from Blood Forever.

Sunny and Rayne McDonald have had their lives turned upside down thanks to the Blood Coven. But when the past itself is changed, the sisters will do anything to get back what they’ve lost…
After making a deal with the devil, Rayne and her twin sister Sunny have been given the chance to go back in time—preventing that fateful night when Sunny was bitten by Magnus from ever happening. But while Sunny has been offered a vampire-free existence, she finds she doesn’t want to live without Magnus by her side. And although Rayne puts up a stoic front, she secretly wishes that vampire Jareth was back in her arms.

To reclaim their lives, Sunny and Rayne team up to figure out a way to change history for the better. Problem is, Jareth and Magnus aren’t that eager to help two unfamiliar girls who somehow know everything about their vampiric organization. Now, if the twins can’t get the boys on their side, history may spiral out of control—destroying not only the Blood Coven, but quite possibly the entire human race…

Make sure you stick around to the end. We’ll be giving away a copy of Blood Forever.

Rayne McDonald

MMancusi-Blood ForeverI’m Rayne McDonald, one of the two heroines in the Blood Coven Vampire series by Mari Mancusi. And I have to admit, I’ve been a bit of a slacker lately when it comes to the whole perfect attendance thing at school this year. Or, you know, any attendance whatsoever. But hey—I’m a vampire. I’m also a vampire slayer. (It’s a long story—don’t ask.) And that’s a lot to have on one’s plate even without adding homework to the mix. And that whole 7:30-2:30 five days a week thing? How can I be expected to save the world (once more with feeling) with a schedule like that?

But now, in the final Blood Coven novel–Blood Forever, my twin sister Sunny and I find ourselves back at Oakridge High. And, more specifically back in time. I mean, how awful is that? Not only do I have to attend high school again, but I have to repeat classes I already (barely) passed! So not cool.

But I had no choice. You see, I managed to make a deal with the devil to win back my sister’s soul. And the only way to get him to agree was to have him take us back to before all of this happened. To the night before my sister accidentally got bitten by a vampire (a bite meant for me, I might add) and started our whole adventure. Hades wanted to know if this time around she’d make another choice. To live a vampire-free life forever.

I guess we’ll have to see about that. In the meantime…sigh…I’m stuck with school, homework, and TV shows that are always reruns. And my gorgeous, wonderful vampire boyfriend Jareth? He doesn’t even know I exist!

That’s something I need to change–pronto. Along with my last Trig test score. Anyone here know the principal’s password by chance?

Contest Time!

Thank you Mari for taking part in Literary Escapism’s School’s in!

Mari is giving away a copy of Blood Forever. To enter, all you have to do is answer this one question: If you had it to do over again, would there be anything you would change about your time in high school? Remember, you must answer the question in order to be entered.

Even though I’m not giving the additional entries any more, you can still help support the author by sharing their article, and this contest, on your blog, Twitter, Facebook, or anywhere you can. After all, the more people who are aware of this fabulous author ensures we get more fabulous stories.

The winner must post a review of the novel someplace. Whether it is on their own blog, Amazon, GoodReads, LibraryThing or wherever, it doesn’t matter. Just help get the word out.

All School’s In contests will remain open until October 7th at which time I’ll determine the winner with help from the snazzy new plug-in I have. Have you checked out the other School’s In contests yet? Check out the Master List to see all the School’s In giveaways

I have not been contacting winners, so you will need to check back to see if you’ve won.

About Jackie 3282 Articles
I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.

  1. Thanks for a great post! I’m definitely going to go check out the rest of this series!

ummmm… “To enter, all you have to do is answer this one question: question” so answer:answer?

  2. I don’t know if my previous comment ever actually went through, it told me it was flagged for spam or something like that. *shrugs*
I love Mari, have almost all the Blood Coven series books just need Soul Bound and Blood Forever!
I didn’t see the question only that where it might have been said question in bold print.

  3. I would want to join more sports team. In elementary school I was a part of almost every sports team and then in high school not so much. It would have been a lot of fun!

  4. If I had a chance to change anything about my time in high school it would maybe be dressing up more for homecomming, and asking the guy I like to the dance face to face instead of over fb.

  5. Well, during my senior and junior years at HS, I was in this program called Running Start, where we get the chance to attend our community college and take classes there instead of at the HS. For both years I only had 2 classes at the HS and the rest of my classes I took at the college. Now that I’m out of HS, I kinda wish I had had that “normal” HS experience. But I suppose one of the reasons I like to read, is because I live vicariously through the characters and all their HS drama :)

  6. If I could change anything about high school I would probably try to do more than just study and dance. Try to have more of a social life : )
