School’s In: Lauren Dane & Ben, Erin and Todd

Lauren Dane

Schools In (200px)It’s that time of year again. Everyone is going back to school and so is Lauren Dane’s Ben, Erin and Todd from Laid Open.

All she needed to pack was a few bikinis, a toothbrush and some sunscreen. This is what Ben told Erin when he presented her and Todd with tickets to Fiji and the promise of ten days of nothing but sleeping until whenever they wanted, sex without having to lock the door and lots of alone time.

And that’s what they have. Long days and nights filled with pleasure. Long enough that the stress and exhaustion drops away and the three can simply enjoy each other.

They’ve got heat. More than ever before. Recharging their batteries has also brought new levels of intimacy and connection. But when Erin stumbles over the pain of her past, both men band together to not only help her through, but to help each other as well.

Make sure you stick around to the end. We’ll be giving away two ecopies of Laid Open.

Exclusive Excerpt from Laid Open

LDane-Laid OpenBen, Todd and Erin have been together for nearly six years when Laid Open starts. They’ve gone through a lot, endured. And each time they get through it, they learn something else about one another.

The heart of Laid Open is the way Ben and Todd not only help Erin get through a rough patch, but also the way each of them learns they can find strength not only in helping each other get through a tough thing, but allowing themselves to lean on another person sometimes as well.

So how about a brief and exclusive snippet from Laid Open?

Her sunglasses didn’t hide the tears in her voice as she began to create the song. Ben had been a fan of her music for many years. Long enough to know the smoke and whiskey just then was the taste of grief.

The sun on his skin, the sound of the ocean and the salt on his tongue did little to temper the knot in his throat as she sang about a wasteland of emptiness.

His woman was vibrant and filled with the joy of life. Creative, sexy. The most charismatic person he’d ever met.

But this Erin was his too. Guilt and despair, grief and loss. It was so much to deal with, just watching her at times like these. But she needed that from them. Needed them to be her anchor in the storm she attempted to live through.

She had no idea, really, the depth of her own strength and resolve. He’d tell her, as he tried to do from time to time.

He’d give her the words when she’d hear them best. Because that’s what she so often did with him and Todd. Because he loved her—he hoped with the depth and commitment she deserved.

Todd lay out next to him on the blanket, his gaze on Erin. He’d reached out and taken Ben’s hand, their fingers loosely entwined.

Something had shifted between them. Todd was most often the fixer. He guarded them all with an intensity Ben found comforting and sexy all at once. But that day it had been Ben who was the fixer. Even though he’d shared his discomfort at his place at times in their family, it was Todd who’d needed him to lean on.

A new step. Three decades of friendship, years of an intimate, romantic relationship, and he still learned things about himself as well as Todd and Erin.

Erin would get through that day. She’d wake up the next and go on. Because it was who she was. And they’d help her through it.

Meet Lauren Dane!

The story goes like this: While on pregnancy bed rest, Lauren Dane had plenty of down time so her husband took her comments about “giving that writing thing a serious go” to heart and brought home a secondhand laptop. She wrote her first book on it before it gave up the ghost. Even better, she sold that book and never looked back.

Today Lauren is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of over fifty novels and novellas across several genres. Though she no longer has to deal with Polly Pocket and getting those tiny outfits on and off, she still has trouble blocking out the sound of iCarly so she can write a love scene.

Lauren is giving away two ecopies of Laid Open. To enter, all you have to do is answer this one question: Where would you want to spend a sexy holiday at with your lover(s)? Remember, you must answer the question in order to be entered.

Even though I’m not giving the additional entries any more, you can still help support the author by sharing their article, and this contest, on your blog, Twitter, Facebook, or anywhere you can. After all, the more people who are aware of this fabulous author ensures we get more fabulous stories.

The winner must post a review of the novel someplace. Whether it is on their own blog, Amazon, GoodReads, LibraryThing or wherever, it doesn’t matter. Just help get the word out.

All School’s In contests will remain open until October 7th at which time I’ll determine the winner with help from the snazzy new plug-in I have. Have you checked out the other School’s In contests yet? Check out the Master List to see all the School’s In giveaways

About Jackie 3282 Articles
I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.

  1. I would spend it up north in Wisconsin in a remote location with wine, fireplace, snowball fights . . . a place to spend quality time with my other half :)

  2. Scotland in the colder months, all those Castles covered in snow there’s nothing more romantic. Perfect opportunity to warm each other up.

  3. Provence in the spring then a stay in Paris – The peace and quiet of the country to decompress followed by the most romantic city in the world.

  4. anywhere my husband will be…we have just as much fun hanging around the house as we do in a fancy hotel suite. 25 years married to my best friend means that anyplace can be the most romantic place. but, if I had to pick a place, I would probably want to go to the United Kingdom.

  5. I would love to get away to a private island that is private that way no one sees us. It would be lovely to get away from kids and teenage drama.

  6. My ideal escape is a cabin in the mountians in the fall when it’s cold enough for a fire. NO one can contact us, no kids, family, just us!!! That is my wish!!!!

  7. Anywhere secluded, whether it be a private island or a cabin in the woods. As long as it was just us.No phones,internet..etc.
Can’t wait for this book.I’m really looking forward to reading it.

  8. If I chose – New York. If he chose – somewhere by the coast. Not a nice sunny beach but somewhere with challenging sailing.

  9. i would love to go somewhere warm.. we get to go to the mountains quite frequently,so the beach or someplace more tropical would be awesome!

  10. In Paris, I think it is the most romantic place. Or a cruise in the caribbean. If we had the money of course.
