Feedburner Going Bye-Bye?

I’ve been hearing a lot of rumors that Feedburner is going to the big dust bin in the sky and I’m kind of worried. I thought I was using Feedburner for the RSS option of LE, but for some reason, when I go to feedburner.com, it doesn’t show that I have any feeds. Granted, I am using literaryescapism.com/feed, so that may be true. There may be other ways people are getting their daily fix of LE, but it has raised questions.

Does anyone actually subscribe to LE via email?

Are you getting your fix in your inbox or do you rely on an email subscription? How many people actually like the email subscription ideas?

I’m in the process of setting up MailChimp, so even if Feedburner does go away, there will be another option. However, if you’re currently subscribed via Feedburner (or any reader), and you’re not using literaryescapism.com/feed, please please please update your links.

I’ll be honest…I thought I knew about feeds and that everything was set up here at LE, but I’m starting to wonder if it is. Do I even have a mail subscription option? If not, and you do want one, I’ll have one soon. Just keep your eyes on the sidebar in case you miss the announcement (which will probably be done via Twitter, Facebook and Google+).

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.

  1. I would love it if you had an email option. That is the easiest way for me to follow blogs, otherwise I know I miss a lot of posts. If you do get that option, I will for sure sign-up! :-)

  2. I subscribe to your blog via RSS feed in my google reader. Actually, I *think* I’m using RSS. I just plug in the url to subscribe under my google email. It works pretty well for me.

  3. I’m using the email for my favorites, but yours I don’t think has one or one I haven’t noticed, so I generally get your posts in Facebook.

  4. oh Jackie… your post sounds like I felt last week. If you want to swap stories and try to help each other out, please email me. I have no idea how to find my email subscribers. I just now FINALLY got the Feedburner stats working on my blog (after a year!). It’s so frustrating.

  5. I subscribe to this blog through Google Reader, but there are other blogs that I subscribe to via email, and I’ve found it a really handy thing. Having email notifications show up in my inbox prevents me from falling too far behind with a blog’s posts. I still prefer things like Google Reader, but I can definitely see the appeal in allowing email subscriptions.

    • Believe it or not, there was an email option at one point. *grin* Before Google bought out Feedburner, when you subscribed via RSS, you had the option of picking a reader (not necessarily GReader) or email for your subscription. I guess I wasn’t paying attention to that fact because I didn’t realize the email option was gone. It’s back now though and it’ll come from MailChimp and it looks a lot prettier in my opinion, but I might be bias. *grin*

@Twimom – It got better…I figured out what was going on. When I was trying to log into Feedburner with the correct email, the one I had open wasn’t logging off completely, so it kept using that one. Once I figured that out, I was able to get in and out with no problems.

Speaking of which….IF YOU WERE SUBSCRIBED VIA EMAIL AT ONE POINT, YOU STILL ARE. I was able to export the old list and move it to the new one. *grin* However, if you want to make sure you’re on the list, there’s a quick signup form in the sidebar.

  6. Thank you! I love email subscriptions. I was manually visiting your site but email makes sure that I don’t miss any new posts.
