Laid Bare in Shadows

Lauren Dane has the official blurb for her upcoming novel, Laid Bare. She also has a snazzy excerpt up as well, so you might want to head over and check it out.  Laid Bare will be released August 4, 2009.

Eos Books is looking for reviewers for Jocelynn Drake’s upcoming novel, Dawnbreaker, and they are only taking 10 reviewers.  I’m not sure when they are ending their search, but head over if you want a chance.

Interviews:

As you’ve noticed, I really don’t do these posts on the weekend.  However, if you need a fix, head over to SciFiGuys.  He’s been doing a Weekend Report for the past couple of weeks and it’s always filled with great tidbits.

I’m a little late with this news, but Richelle Mead announced the titles to her third Dark Swan and fifth Vampire Academy novels.  The latest Dark Swan will be Iron Crowned and the latest Vampire Academy will be Spirit Bound.  There isn’t a release date for Iron Crowned, but Richelle says that Spirit Bound will be out April 2010.

Did anyone else catch what Rachel Vincent said on her blog today?  Did she just say what the final Shifter book was going to be called?  “The last two books (SHIFT and ALPHA) won’t be out until 2010“; I do believe that is what she said.  The final book in the Shifter/Werecat series will be called Alpha.

For some reason, I never really expected CNN to start a headline with Decades of beefcakes, but they did just that when they ran their article about Harlequins anniversary.  Decades of beefcakes, bodices and Harlequin romances talks about Harlequin’s “The Heart of a Woman: Harlequin Cover Art 1949-2009” exhibit in New York City.  On display is original artwork for many of their covers.  It’s an interesting read if you have a moment.

I am so a cover junkie and the cover for Erica Hayes 2010 release, Shadowglass, is amazing.  This is actually the second novel in a new series and the first one, Shadowfae comes out October 13, 2009.  Here’s the blurb for Shadowfae:

Steal souls.
Live in hell.
Never die.

In a city infested with psychotic fairies and run by sadistic vampire mafiosi, life as a soul-sucking succubus rarely involves lacy lingerie, hot guys or great sex.

Instead, Jade must spend her nights seducing gangsters and murderers, or simpering as a trophy girl for hell’s minions.

So when she discovers a forbidden ritual that promises to break hell’s thrall and set her free, she’s got nothing to lose, even if it involves seducing the four most repellent souls in town.
But when you’re cheating hell, there’s always a catch…

You can thank Tez Says for this wonderful find.  There is also an excerpt for Shadowfae available at Erica Hayes website.

CONTEST ALERTS:
Stumbling Over Chaos is giving away a copy of Anya Bast’s Witch Fire.  Did I  mention that it’s a signed copy of Witch Fire? The contest ends at 7 pm CDT on June 11th.

Jeaniene Frost is giving away five different books, all of which are fairly new releases.  The contest ends at midnight tonight, so hurry over.

Don’t forget to enter Literary Escapism’s contest for some Chicagoland swag by Chloe Neill.  The contest ends tomorrow night at midnight.

Don’t ask me why, but I feel the need to say this.  Everyone does know that if there’s an interview with an author, more than likely there is a contest as well, right?  I don’t mention interview/contest combos since I have a section strictly for the interview/guest blogs.  Just making sure.

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.
