Project: It’s About Fraking Time

Under Construction

Under ConstructionYou’re hearing that right. It’s about fraking time Literary Escapism undergoes a change. *grin*

For those who don’t know, I like change. Not only that, but I like change to happen often. I was one of those roommates who changed around her dorm room every 6 weeks because I would get bored with the layout. I still change around every room in the house whenever I’m able (and I am so not able to do it enough). I dislike being bored, which is why I tended to read a lot, so when I get bored, things get moved around. I’ve been bored with the site design for awhile and I’ve been looking for a new design/layout for awhile (like in a year at least). I haven’t had much luck in finding one; and while the thought of getting someone to do it for me did occur, I can be really high maintenance when it comes to things like formating and that would probably jack up the cost a bit more.

I like the layout I have, but it’s definitely time for a change. LE has gone through a lot of growth since I started using the Arthemia template and it’s time the site shows that as well.  I’ve finally found one I like, but in order to get it up, I have to do all the changes while the site is live. While that’s not optimal, it’s what needs to happen in order for it to get done.

So LE might look a bit weird this weekend. It’s the perfect time as the boys are gone to Gramps, so there goes a lot of the distractions I would normally have. This also means I can stay up late tonight working on getting everything how I want it. Hopefully the site will be looking good come morning, but if it doesn’t, please bear with me while I get everything adjusted and changed.

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.

  1. I’m doing the same thing! Even though I just redesigned my blog a few months ago. I just changed the colors (basically) that time, now I want to change the format.

    Good luck with your changes!

  2. Sometimes a bit of redesign and updating is just what I need to get myself out of a reading slump, too. Because when it gets right down to it, when you get to a certain point in redoing a large number of links and URLs, just about anything seems better than continuing, and if I’m going to stop, I may as well go read a book!

Have fun with the changes, and good luck!

  3. I’m liking it already ! Looks really good. And I prefer the mailchimp email format too. I like seeing the little burst of green in my inbox. :-D
