Zombie Love

Check out the scoop I have for you today.  Just confirmed – Katie MacAlister, Angie Fox, Marianne Mancusi and Lisa Cach are getting together for a new anthology to be released January 2010.  My Zombie Valentine will feature love stories involving a rare breed of supernatural creatures that have been popping up more lately.  Katie’s story is said to be about a zombie therapist; Marianne’s will be taking place on the set of a zombie movie; and Angie’s story, Gentlemen Preferr Voodoo, will be (in her own words):

A lonely New Orleans voodoo shop owner decides she’s had enough romantic disappointments. She wants a relationship, but only with mister right. So she uses her voodoo magic to call the perfect man for her. Only she should have been more specific because her ideal mate died 198 years ago. When a sexy, well-spoken zombie gentleman shows up at her door, things get interesting.

I haven’t read anything by Mancusi or Cach, so this is going to be one I’ll be trying to get my hands on.

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.

  1. My oh my, reading stuff like this just makes me wonder: where is the shark hiding that this sub-genre of books is supposed to jump?

  2. Actually, I have nothing to do with the anthology. Dorchester is reprinting one of my existing novellas, Bring Out Your Dead, from the Just One Sip anthology–which, incidentally, is still in print–in that anthology. I am not writing anything new for it.

I have no idea if they are reprinting the other authors’ novellas, or if it is new material.

  3. My Zombie Valentine sounds like so much fun! I LOVE zombies … so this’ll be an auto-buy for me!

    Thanks for the news, Jackie!

  4. I don’t recall any books I read that were either a romance or urban fantasy romance with Zombies as the positive character (rather than a villian). So this I’d like to read to see how this is done! I do read Lisa Cach (hasn’t had a book out in a while), and the others that are from Dorchester I’ve read a couple of their books. Thanks for the info!

    • Mark Henry writes UF involving a female zombie, but he’s still in my TBR pile, so I can’t say anything more than that.

  5. Yes, as Katie said, they’re reprinting an earlier novella of hers for My Zombie Valentine. However, I believe the rest of the stories are originals. Oh and in mine, the zombies are definitely the bad guys, not the heroes! :) It takes place on the set of a low budget zombie film and I tried to capture all the awesomeness of a cheesy, campy horror movie!! :)
