Thrill Ride by Julie Ann Walker

JAWalkerThrill RideI simply adore Julie Ann Walker’s BKI series. I mean, who doesn’t like some hawt, former special military ops men who ooze alpha male and smexy? Add in that Walker’s writing is simply fabulous and you have the set up for an awesome series. Thrill Ride is the latest installment of this sexy series and does not disappoint. You have a hawt hero, a determined heroine and some serious trouble that will keep you on the edge.  All the great markings of a great RS/contemp hybrid romance.

Ex-Navy SEAL Rock Babineaux’s job is to get information, and he’s one of the best in the business. Until something goes horribly wrong and he’s being hunted by his own government. Even his best friends at the covert special-ops organization Black Knights Inc. aren’t sure they can trust him. He thinks he can outrun them all, but his former partner—a curvy bombshell who knows just how to drive him wild—refuses to cut him loose.

Vanessa Cordova hasn’t been the team’s communication specialist very long, but she knows how to read people—no way is Rock guilty of murder. And she’ll go to hell and back to help him prove it. Sure, the sexy Cajun has his secrets, but there’s no one in the world she’d rather have by her side in a tight spot. Which is good, because they’re about to get very tight…

Yep, I was hooked from page 1.  Poor Rock has been accused of some treason–and man oh man does it look like he’s 100% guilty.  But, there is something about it all that seems just a tad too perfect, if you ask Vanessa.  I liked her because there was no way you could convince her that Rock was anything but innocent.  Her tenaciousness was both something I adored but also something that grated on me at times.  It grated because it made her oh so stubborn, which got her into some sticky situations that she wouldn’t have been in otherwise…and were situations that she really had no business getting into, IMHO.  But hey, what’s a good book if you aren’t, at some point, worried your heroine may just be too stubborn for her own welfare/safety?

I truly like Walker’s writing style in all of the BKI novels and Thrill Ride was no exception.  The pacing is well done, speeding up during those heart-pounding action scenes and slowing down to fill in the back-story when needed–and giving a glimpse into some of your faves from past books in the series.

If you like RS or are a fan of Maya Banks’ KGI novels and haven’t yet picked up any of Walker’s BKI novels, what in the world are you waiting for?! You can start with Thrill Ride, or go from the start (hey, I read the first 4 out of order, heh).  You won’t feel lost.  So, go on now; go forth and read! If you’ve already discovered these gems, I promise Thrill Ride will make you, well, thrilled *wink*.

I have 2 dogs, both Labrador retriever mixed breeds, who are very rotten and think they run the house. Let's not lie, they totally do, I just can't them know it ha ha! My usual genre is romance or urban fantasy. I love all things having to do with paranormal, with the occasional good contemp/BDSM/erotica thrown in to spice it all up.
