Oh to be a Canadian. If you’re a fan of Kelley Armstrong’s Otherworld series, and you don’t have access to the Canadian television station Space, you’ll be bemoaning the fact as well. Armstrong’s series has been picked up for a 13 episode run and four of the cast members have been picked. With the initial press release, they announced that Laura Vandervoort (aka Supergirl from Smallville) has been cast to play Elena. Now they’ve announced who will

If you went to the Olde City New Blood convention this past February, guess what – Jennifer is doing it again! But there’s been both a city and name change. Olde City New Blood, which was held in St. Augustine, Florida, will now be called Coastal Magic and held in Daytona Beach, Florida. For 2014, Coastal Magic will be held the weekend of February 6-9 at the Hilton Daytona Beach Oceanfront Resort. To my knowledge, and please correct me if I’m wrong, this is the first and only convention solely dedicated to UF/PNR fiction. So if you’re a fan of UF/PNR, this is one con you should keep on your radar.

Jennifer Estep has posted the blurb to her upcoming Mythos Academy novella, Spartan Frost, which releases June 25th:

I’m Logan Quinn, the deadliest Spartan warrior at Mythos Academy. At least I was—until the day I almost killed Gwen Frost.

Professor Metis and Nickamedes say that I’m fine, that Loki and the Reapers don’t have a hold on me anymore, but I can’t risk it. I can’t risk hurting Gwen again. So I’m leaving Mythos and going somewhere far, far away.

I know Gwen wonders what’s happening to me, whether I’m safe.  I can’t tell her, but this is my story …

John Marco & Shannon K. Butcher Contest Winners
John Marco stopped by Literary Escapism with an excerpt from his new Lukien novel, The Forever Knight. While he was here, we gave away a shiny new Kindle ereader to one lucky winner!. In order to enter, all anyone had to do was answer: What do you think happened to Cricket’s memory? How do you think she lost it? Now, without further ado, the winner is:

MIKE G who said: I would lean towards traumatic experience, but things are never quite so simple around Mr Marco… She saw something that she should not have, is actually a much more important person in the Bitter Kingdoms, or elsewhere and was kidnapped and memory wiped to keep the plot from unraveling too quickly

Congratulations Mike G!

Shannon K. Butcher also recently stopped by Literary Escapism to answer a few question about her new novel, Falling Blind. While she was here, we gave away a signed copy of Dying Wish plus a personally handmade piece of jewelry to one lucky winner. Sadly, the plague hit my house soon after it was posted and I totally failed with the question, so I’m upping the prize.  I’m adding two ecopies of any Sentinel novel, winners choice. *grin*

Winners have 72 hours from the time they receive my email to reply before I draw a new name. Emails may or may not have been sent out at the time of this post, so if you see your name, don’t hesitate to contact me at jackie AT literaryescapism DOT com, with the contest you won in the subject line. Winners of all LE contests are determined by this snazzy plug-in and is completely random.

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.

  1. Hi Jackie – glad to see you are still doing these news updates. I am resuming my blogging and of course needed to come back to my reliable source to find out what’s been going on. I was thrilled to see your news on Kelley Armstrong. Going to have to find out more about that.
    Cheers, Doug
