Devil May Cry by S. Kenyon

I finally got a chance to read Sherrilyn Kenyon’s newest Dark-Hunter novel Devil May Cry. Kenyon’s vampiric world revolves around mythology and the different Pantheons that have existed. We’ve already dealt with gods from the Greek and Norse Pantheons, but this time we’re introduced to the Sumerian Pantheon and some of their demons. The Dark-Hunter in question is Sin, the last Sumerian god who is left to fight the Gallu demons created by his brethren. Unlike the Daimons, Gallu demons are not a cursed raised who are trying to prolong their life. They are truly demons who have no real morals regarding combat and the humans. We also learn the truth behind the mysterious Katra, Artemis’ handmaiden who has already made several appearances in previous novels.

I’ve already started collecting this series and I’m ecstatic to know that it isn’t going downhill anytime soon. Kenyon kept us in her world, but we were given a different path to follow. One we haven’t been on before, but didn’t deviate from where we’re suppose to be going. I love the mystery surrounding Acheron and the fact that we are no closer to figuring him out; yet, we are given more tidbits that make his character even more commanding. This series is still addicted for me and I would recommend anyone to pick up a book. The one thing about this series I love the most is that you really don’t have to read it in order. It helps, but each novel is not based on what has previously happened. Since all the Dark-Hunters are not in the same city, some plot points overlap, but are not so important that they are not easily explained.

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.
