Ask & You Shall Receive

I was just saying there didn’t seem to be a lot of news lately.  Today is definitely making up for that.

OOhhh….I just heard what the title to the fourth Hell on Earth novel by Jackie Kessler is.  RachelfromNJ and I were asking her via Twitter when the next one is and she said that Hell to Pay has been handed into her editor.  She is also working on a Jezzie story for an upcoming anthology, so that is also exciting news.

Interviews:

Maria Snyder has a snazzy new look to her website.  Also, if you happen to be a fan of Yelena and Valek (like me), and you’re not getting her newsletters, then you need to.  Snyder has started a new story called Ice Study featuring my favorite pair and the first part was in her May/June newsletter which was just sent out. If you’re looking for more Study stories, make sure you check out Power Study (featuring Ari and Janco) and Assassin Study (featuring Valek while he’s not with Yelena).

Chris Marie Green has announced that she’ll be taking part in a new anthology collection along with Simon Green and Rachel Caine.  The anthology is going to have a them of Occult Detectives and will be out sometime Fall 2010.  Green has already plotted out her story and she says it’s going to take place after the conclusion of her London VB trilogy.  However, that’s all she’s giving us since the sixth book, Deep in the Woods, isn’t out for another nine months.

Jacquelyn Frank is talking Nightwalkers today.  Well, sorta.  She’s letting us know that Pleasure, the third Shadowdweller’s novel will be out August 25, 2009 – not 2010.  Also, she’s starting a new series called the Gatherers that will not be in the Nightwalkers world.  The Gatherers are going to be more of an interdimensional romance and that’s all she’s really saying at the moment.  She’s also currently working on the sixth Nightwalkers novel (Shadowdwellers).  I really wish she would update her website, because none of this information was there the last time I looked (last week).

I so totally made Kim Harrison’s website!  If you’ve been to her signings, she has her own camera that she sends around for pictures and two of me were posted.  How cool is that!  The first one is with my cousin and Kim and the second one was actually taken by Jocelynn Drake when I went to bug her about getting a picture with her.  I’m psyched about being up there and by the fact that Kim actually remembered me from the previous year (although I did have Ian with me at that visit and a toddler is kind of memorable).

I have to thank Tez Says for this bit of news.  She’s posted all three of the new Jennifer Armintrout’s Lightworld/Darkworld novel covers.  Check them out, aren’t they snazzy?  As for the release schedule, Queene of Light will be out September 29th, Child of Darkness November 1, 2009 and Veil of Shadows on December 1, 2009.

PC Cast has a couple of series that are getting all new covers and SciFiGuy has them both.  There are new covers for her adult fantasy trilogy Divine by Mistake, Divine by Choice and Divine by Blood.  The first reprint will come out in August with the other two following in September and October.  There are also new covers for her two YA fantasy novelsElphaeme’s Choice and Brighid’s Quest.  These two are being re-released as part of the new Harlequin Teen.  Elphaeme’s Choice will be out sometime in September and Brighid’s Quest will follow in March 2010.  SciFiGuy has both the new and old covers for these novels, so if you’re interested in seeing the changes, make sure you head over.

USA Today has a great article – Scholarly writers empower the romance genre – where they talk with Julia Quinn and Eloisa James plus the Smart Bitches, Sarah Wendell and Candy Tan.  It’s definitely and article to check out, so makes sure you do.

Check out this novel I came across via the article New Novel Pits Vampire Against Vampire at Newswire.com:

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.
