Can you introduce yourself to my readers a little?
Hello! I write historical romances set in Tang Dynasty China. I’m a science and technology geek, get excited by odd trivia about ancient history, and the only TV I have time to watch is Top Chef and the Food Channel. And The Walking Dead.

Can you introduce us to the world that you have created?
My stories are set in the Tang Dynasty – The Sword Dancer, Butterfly Swords, The Taming of Mei Lin – a golden age in Chinese history and a high point of poetry, music and culture. It was a period of both diplomacy and warfare. A time of beautiful courtesans, talented scholars and ruthless warlords. I like to say it has all the refinement and decadence of the Regency period and all the drama of medieval times.
Will this be your first RT or are you a veteran? Any advice for those who are going for the first time?
This is my second RT. Advice for first timers? Just relax and have fun and take it all in. Dress up! Live it up. And don’t count on the continental breakfast. You’re not going to make in there on time and the line is going to be WAY long.
I do have one more bit of advice: I suppose it doesn’t apply to RT 2013 since there’s no Faerie Ball, right? But my advice is to bring small wings! The first time I went, I had these HUGE ASS fairy wings. They were purple and shed glitter all over my suitcase. Then at the ball, I couldn’t dance or even really move around much because everywhere I went, I would whack people with these gigantic flappers. I was like one of those overgrown dragonflies in King Kong. I looked around and everyone else had these cute, wee little wings.
Are you speaking on any panels during RT? Are there any you are looking forward to?
I’m on two panels, both on Thursday: True Colors: Writing Diversity For a Diverse Audience Mermaids and Monsters: Making Myths Come Alive
Oh, I’m looking forward to a bunch, but I’ll just go and see what strikes me at the time.
If someone were wanting to meet up with you at RT, who should they look for?
Uh…I’m the “other” Asian author? The short one. The one who’s not Sherry Thomas or Jade Lee. I get mistaken for them occasionally. There was a rumor online somewhere that Jade Lee and I were actually the same person…
