Month Long Events on Literary Escapism

BlackFriday.2012School's InSummer will be here in a couple of weeks, and while that means I’ll then have two monkeys jumping around the house, it also means that I need to start thinking about this fall and whether to bring back two month long features – School’s In and Black Friday.

Now I’m not too worried about Black Friday and already have plans to do it again this year, especially since it’ll be the third year for it. When it comes to Black Friday, that one is pretty easy and I generally get a great response – especially from the authors. Last year, I had more than one of them ask if I was running it again and if they could participate. So I’ll definitely be doing it again this year. Who doesn’t love seeing their favorite characters go holiday shopping, right?

But I’m wondering what people thought about School’s In. I haven’t received as much feedback about the September event like I have with Black Friday, so I wanted to ask. Did you guys like seeing a glimpse of your favorite characters school life? Was there something you would have liked to seen, but didn’t?  Is there something you would change?

I’m not just looking to hear from my readers either. For those authors who participated, was this a fun “project” for you, what did you think? For those authors who have novels coming out in August and September, would you want to participate?

September tends to be a busy time of year for people, summer is ending and school is starting, plus education can be a bit tricky when it comes to fantasy novels.  So if I do bring it back, I want to make sure it’s something people want and do any adjustments as needed. I haven’t made up my mind either way yet, so if you want to see School’s In again this September – tell me!

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.
