Look Who’s Going to RT: Lauren Dane

Lauren Dane

Lauren DaneCan you introduce yourself to my readers a little?
I’m Lauren Dane, I write across several genres (contemporary and paranormal romance and urban fantasy). I contracted my first book in 2004 and at this point I’m a NYT and USA Today Bestselling author of over fifty novels and novellas

Can you introduce us to the world that you have created?
LUSH is book three in my DELICIOUS series from Berkley Heat. It’s a spin off from the Brown Family novels and features Mary, a character you meet first in Never Enough. She’s a caterer, and a woman who sees food as expression. She’s building her career when she meets Damien Hurley, a drummer, through her friend Gillian’s husband. They start what she thinks is just a hot few times in bed but he wants more and she’s not sure if he can give it or even if she wants it.

I set the books in Bainbridge Island, which is a bedroom community just across the water from Seattle. The women in the series are a group of friends who call themselves Delicious. Each of them is an artist in her own way.

Will this be your first RT or are you a veteran? Any advice for those who are going for the first time?
This will be my sixth RT. I absolutely LOVE going to RT. Advice wise, I’d say for folks to go in and be friendly. If you’re going on your own, know that people who go to RT are so open and fun. Just start up a chat with someone in line and you’ll make friends pretty fast. Have comfortable shoes (that are still cute) and I also carry around some water and snacks because sometimes you can end up running from one thing to the next and then you get sort of woozy from all the chocolate and drinks and lack of real food, LOL. Don’t be afraid to nip up to your room to take some quiet time here and there though. It can be overwhelming sometimes with all the people and noise.

Are you speaking on any panels during RT? Are there any you are looking forward to?
Yes! I’m on an erotic romance panel on Wednesday and part of a sexy version of Apples to Apples that day as well. Thursday I’m doing an erotic romance author cat with Jaci Burton and Maya Banks and participating in a Romance Pride Over the Rainbow event which should be really fun too! As for stuff I’ll attend –there are the spotlights so I try to go to the ones for my publishers and their parties. The big bookfair on Saturday. Otherwise I like to drop in on my friends’ workshops if they’re not at the same time mine are! Admittedly? I am usually so rushed and busy that I just leave it open and jump in as I go once I’m there and have some breathing room.

If someone were wanting to meet up with you at RT, who should they look for?
My picture is linked but everyone has nametags too so if you see me, please do say hello!

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.
