Look Who’s Going to RT: Aaron Michael Ritchey

Aaron Ritchey

Aaron RitcheyCan you introduce yourself to my readers a little?
I’m Aaron Michael Ritchey. I like long walks on the beach, vicious demons, virgin pina coladas, heartbroken angels, and getting caught in the rain. Life-long writer, read Tolkien in the womb, and my first book, The Never Prayer, was published last year. Finally, and most importantly, I choose Buffy the Vampire Slayer over Twilight, but Buffy is closely tied, neck and neck, with Supernatural.

Can you introduce us to the world that you have created?
In October, at ten thousand feet, Avalon, Colorado had no pity for the weak or poor. It killed both.

Magdalena Marquez is a young woman caught between what she wants and what she needs to do in order to keep her brother safe. Two new boys show up in town, to play a demonic game that threatens to shatter Lena and her small town like icicles falling on concrete.

Will this be your first RT or are you a veteran? Any advice for those who are going for the first time?
I went last year. Bring food. Bring coffee. I plan on taking the next few weeks off, so I can bank enough sleep to make it through to Sunday. It’s a grind. Seriously, pace yourself, bring throat lozenges, and remember to breathe.

Are you speaking on any panels during RT? Are there any you are looking forward to?
Next year, I’m going to do a panel on book psychics for writers. Yes, we can tell you the book you need to write to hit it big. I didn’t get my panel ideas on time for this year. But I am totally going to David Morell’s talk. His book, “Lessons From A Lifetime of Writing” really inspired me.

If someone were wanting to meet up with you at RT, who should they look for?
I’m very male, though all my protagonists are female. Look for the cover model turned novelist, with gorgeous, yet thinning hair. *sigh*. Yes, I have a Jesus-like quality, if you aren’t at all historically accurate. I’ll be the guy talking. Lord, will I be talking.

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.
