Depending on how long you’ve been reading LE (and the fact that you do, I thank you immensely!), you may or may not know that I am a tad quirky. I’m a lot of things actually, but the one that probably drives others batty the most is I can fixate on something and then give it more worth than it probably warrants. It could be something small or a minor detail, but there’s something about it that just makes me want to beat it to death.
Why am I mentioning this? For those who don’t follow LE on Twitter or Facebook, I’ve been on a Night Huntress bender and have been re-reading them from the very beginning. I had just started First Drop of Crimson and was updating my GoodsReads status when I came across the cover for the next Cat/Bones novel, Up from the Grave (January 28, 2014). I added it to the May 2013 album 23 hours ago and since then the page has received 100+ new likes. Holy Sh*t!
There’s always one more grave to dig.
Lately, life has been unnaturally calm for vampires Cat Crawfield and her husband Bones. They should have known better than to relax their guard, because a shocking revelation sends them back into action to stop an all-out war…
A rogue CIA agent is involved in horrifying secret activities that threaten to raise tensions between humans and the undead to dangerous heights. Now Cat and Bones are in a race against time to save their friends from a fate worse than death…because the more secrets they unravel, the deadlier the consequences. And if they fail, their lives—and those of everyone they hold dear— will be hovering on the edge of the grave.
For all I know, the cover and the insane bump in likes have nothing to do with each other and there’s a glitch in FB’s system. It’s nothing dire or really all that interesting to anyone but me I’m sure, but guess what I’ve fixated on. *grin* Yeah…when I went to bed last night around 1am, LE had 3455 likes…this morning it’s up to 3502. *blinks* Not only that, but it’s been seen by 11,000+ people, been shared by 90+, liked by 500+ and commented on by 46+ people.
I’m fixated on this and I don’t know why. It’s freaking me out. I mean, c’mon…am I the only person who finds 50+ new likes in 7 hours to be a little weird? Especially when those seven hours are in the dead of night? Plus, with how flaky I’ve been with LE lately, I know I’m not the first person to have found it. All Things Urban Fantasy found it 10 days ago when Jeaniene Frost posted it on her website.
So yeah, I’m kind of being a freak today and trying to figure out what has drawn so many new readers to LE’s FB page, especially when I haven’t been giving the site enough attention lately. Which I will be rectifying. I know I’ve been slacking with a lack of news, cover postings happening all at once (I have over 100 to post in the April album), and reviews being sporadic (but I can also blame that one on the girls *grin*) – but the insane jump has gotten me thinking about making sure I get my LE time in every day. With summer just around the corner, the Monkey will be home every day and while that may seem like I’ll be even busier (which may or may not be true), it also means that there’ll be someone in the house to entertain Psy for an hour or so and allow me to put in time on LE daily. So I’m actually excited for the school year to end.
Plus it’s becoming a lot clearer that I really need to fix this habit I have of fixating on things and that I really need to be a lot better with my ADD meds. Oh yeah, if you haven’t heard, there’s a reason my “oh shiny syndrome” has been so bad lately. I’ve always suspected I had ADD, but the doc confirmed it for me recently and mentioned that having kids can actually make it worse. Really? That explains soooo much. Especially since I just got done sewing a dozen superhero capes for the boys for no apparent reason. I’m not kidding either. Although here’s the one I’m most proud of – my little superhero of Time and Space – and I’m currently in the middle of a Dr. Who tote. *grin* At least if I’m fixating on something, it’s fantasy related, right?
To get back to my original point, or maybe not my original point but a very valid reason to freak out, there’s a new Cat/Bones cover! I seriously thought that Up from the Grave was coming out in October, but we have to wait until January 2014! Who else is excited?
