Exclusive Excerpt: Down London Road by Samantha Young

SYoungDown London RoadI am excited to welcome author Samantha Young, who is here today to give us a glimpse into her new novel, Down London Road.

Johanna Walker is used to taking charge. But she’s about to meet someone who will make her lose control….

It has always been up to Johanna to care for her family, particularly her younger brother, Cole. With an absent father and a useless mother, she’s been making decisions based on what’s best for Cole for as long as she can remember. She even determines what men to date by how much they can provide for her brother and her, not on whatever sparks may—or may not—fly.

But with Cameron MacCabe, the attraction is undeniable. The sexy new bartender at work gives her butterflies every time she looks at him. And for once, Jo is tempted to put her needs first. Cam is just as obsessed with getting to know Jo, but her walls are too solid to let him get close enough to even try.

Then Cam moves into the flat below Jo’s, and their blistering connection becomes impossible to ignore. Especially since Cam is determined to uncover all of Jo’s secrets…even if it means taking apart her defenses piece by piece.

Make sure you stick around to the end. We’ll be giving away a copy of Down London Road.

His gaze skimmed down my figure again before coming to rest on the floor as he said, “You don’t have to ask about the job for me.”

I narrowed my eyes at him, my hackles rising. What was with this guy? What was with my reaction to him? Like I gave a crap what he thought about me. “You need the job, right?”

Those deep blue eyes of his met mine again. I watched the muscle in his jaw flex along with his biceps as he crossed his arms over his chest.

I had a feeling it was just pure muscle underneath his shirt.

He gave me no verbal answer, but with body language like that I didn’t need one.

“Then I’ll ask.”

Without a word of gratitude—not even a nod— Cam turned away and I felt the tension begin to drain out of me.

Meet Samantha Young!

I’m 27 years old, studied ancient and medieval history at the University of Edinburgh, which really just means I like old stuff, I’ve been self-publishing my young adult novels since February 2011 and I decided it was time to branch out into adult fiction when the characters from my contemporary romance On Dublin Street persisted on acting out scenes in my head. Fun scenes. Some of them hot… :D Anyhoo, with a concept drawn up for an adult dystopian/UF series too, you’ll be seeing a lot more from me in the adult fiction genres.

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.
