Laura Kaye

Laura KayeI am excited to welcome author Laura Kaye to Literary Escapism today as part of her South of Surrender tour.

She’s the only one who can see through his golden boy façade to the broken god within…

Chrysander Notos, Supreme God of the South Wind and Summer, is on a mission: save Eurus from his death sentence and prove his troubled brother can be redeemed. But Eurus fights back, triggering vicious storms that threaten the mortal realm and dangerously drain Chrys.

Laney Summerlyn refuses to give up her grandfather’s horse farm, despite her deteriorating vision. More than ever, she needs the organized routine of her life at Summerlyn Stables, until a ferocious storm brings an impossible—and beautiful—creature crashing down from the heavens.

Injured while fighting Eurus, Chrys finds himself at the mercy of a mortal woman whose compassion and acceptance he can’t resist. As they surrender to the passion flaring between them, immortal enemies close in, forcing Chrys to choose between his brother and the only woman who’s ever loved the real him.

Make sure you stick around to the end. We’ll be giving away an ecopy of an Hearts of the Anemoi novel (winner’s choice), a set of Hearts of the Anemoi swag – romance trading cards from all three books, new bookmarks, magnets, and a tattoo, and a chance to enter the big tour giveaway – a signed set of all three Hearts of the Anemoi novels.

Meet Chrysander Notos and Laney Summerlyn

It’s always fun to fantasize about your book being made into a movie. Imagine the glamour, the red carpet, the big, silver screen! Oh my! You’d wonder how your story might translate to film, and how exciting it would be to see everything come to life. And, of course, you’d wonder just which actors would play your characters.

In my latest book in my Greek-mythology-inspired Hearts of the Anemoi series, South of Surrender, the hero is an immortal, a Greek God named Chrysander Notos. He’s the Supreme God of the South Wind and Summer and he’s on a mission: to save or capture his brother Eurus who’s under a death sentence handed down by the Olympians. Chrys’s heroine is a mortal, human woman named Laney Summerlyn he meets after literally falling into her life. Laney owns a horse farm and suffers from a degenerative eye disease that has left her nearly blind. I absolutely adored writing this couple. So, here’s more about Chrys and Laney, who I think could play them, and a reveal of their romance trading cards:

MEET HERO CHRYSANDER NOTOS:

LKaye-SoSTour.Beckham as ChrysLaney’s first impression of Chrys:

She was used to the limitations of her low vision by now, but sometimes it was so frustrating not to be able to see more than a pinpoint of the world at a time, her brain putting the whole together like a slow computer loading the pixels of a high-resolution image. Blond hair. Longish. Angled jaw. Muscled shoulder. Bare muscled shoulder.

Laney gasped and cut her gaze away, half of her afraid of what else she might see if she continued to scan her gaze over him, and half of her dying to know.

LKaye-SoSTour.Jason Lewis as ChrysChrys’s Job: Supreme God of the South Wind and Summer, one of the four Cardinal Anemoi

3 Words that Describe Chrys: Loyal, Protective, Powerful

3 Things he Loves about Heroine Laney Summerlyn: Her acceptance, her courage, her belief in him

Who would play Chrys if the book was made into a movie? I’m torn between two possibilities: Jason Lewis in all his yumminess and the ever-awesome David Beckham

MEET HEROINE LANEY SUMMERLYN:

LKaye-SoSTour.Louise Cliffe as LaneyOne of Chrys’s early impressions of Laney:

Easing onto his back, Chrys found himself staring into the sleeping face of an incredibly beautiful woman. Long black hair spilled down around her shoulder, and cherry red lips set off the fairness of her skin. She lay stretched out against him, her head now resting against his bicep. The comfort her body heat provided was so intense, her laying against him didn’t even set off his usual anxiety about being touched.

Laney’s Job: Laney is a freelance writer and columnist

3 Words that Describe Laney: Adventurous, Strong, Courageous

3 Things she Loves about Hero Chrysander Notos: He’s honorable, he doesn’t treat her like she’s disabled, he’s dominant

Who would play Laney if the book was made into a movie? With her black hair and blue eyes, beautiful and sexy British actress Louise Cliffe could be a great Laney

Giveaway: One commenter who leaves their email address will win a set of Hearts of the Anemoi swag – romance trading cards from all three books, new bookmarks, magnets, and a tattoo! Open to international. What to comment? DAVID OR JASON??? Or someone else altogether? LOL

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.

  1. I like the image of Jason if I had to chose between the two. There are a few others I like …even one of the younger versions of Travis Fimmel…not the really young images…but the mid to late 20s

  2. Personally, I’d pick Chris Hemsworth to play Chrys. :-)

Thank you so much for having the contest! Fingers crossed.

    Best Wishes,
    Lindsey V.

  3. Poor David! I’ll pick him as long as he doesn’t speak.

  4. Wow, I don’t keep up with famous people very much and I don’t know who Jason Lewis is, but man is he ever yummy. He’d definitely be my pick. The book sounds great, I love that Laney has a disability. I’d love to read it.
