MIA Horrors

Since I’ve been a neglectful girl and MIA for a couple of days, I’m giving you the news I have today instead of waiting until tomorrow.  So enjoy, although this means I may not have a lot for you tomorrow. :)

Check out what I just saw over at Anna’s Book Blog.  The eighth Hollows novel (aka Rachel Morgan) is going to be Black Magic Sanction and it’s due out February 23, 2010.  I am digging this Rachel cover.  And if I had been keeping up on my RSS feeds, I would have already seen this on SciFiGuy’s Weekend Report.  The things I miss when I’m absorbed into a book.

Speaking of which, make sure you check out his Weekend Report, because he has some great news in there about the next Sookie Stackhouse novel and you’re going to want to see what it is.  Let’s just say that Harris has been signed for 3 more Sookie novels and she gives some hints as to what we’ll see.

Interviews:

Mmm….remember the novel Pride and Prejudice and Zombies?  Well, they are not stopping there.  With the rise of paranormal fiction, it seems that Jane Austen has to be in the thick of it and they are mashing up another one of her novels.  This time around Sense and Sensibility will become Sense, Sensibility and Sea Monsters, which comes out September 15, 2009.  Is it wrong that I still have no desire to read either of these novels?

Also, CBR is stating that zombies are now the new vampires and we’ll be seeing a lot more of them around.  I’m not sure how I feel about that, but I do have to admit, it’ll be nice to see more variety flooding the market than just all vampires.  Don’t get me wrong, I love me a good vampire story, BUT there are other paranormal creatures out there yet.

Congratulations to Mario Acevedo for being named Rocky Mountain Fiction Writers’ Writer of the Year for 2009.

Michelle’s Book Blog has come across the UK cover for Carrie Vaughn’s Kitty’s House of Horrors.

C.T. Adams and Cathy Clamp have posted excerpts for Chapters ONE, TWO and THREE of Cold Moon Rising, the seventh novel in their Sazi series.  Cold Moon Rising will be released on August 4th.

If you’re still trying to figure out if you want to dive into a steampunk novel (like me), then may I suggest checking out the first chapter of Cherie Priest’s new novel, Boneshaker?

Have you been keeping an eye on those Book Smugglers?  From July 19th through August 16th, they are celebrating the young adult genre with their YA Appreciation Month.  It sounds like they have a lot of fun plans, so you might want to go see what’s brewing over there.

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.
