Kelly Meding has posted the cover and blurb for her fifth Dreg City novel, Requiem for the Dead, which will release September 16, 2013.

KMeding-Requiem for the DeadShe’s died twice while protecting her city…and she’d do it again to save the people she loves.

After a deadly, artificial infection forces the vampire Families into a self-imposed isolation, the city’s protective Watchtower forces are depleted by one third, leaving humans and shifters to shoulder the burden.  Human enforcer Evangeline Stone is determined to find a way to help her vampire allies, but she already has her hands full—investigating an escalating series of goblin attacks, dealing with her half-werewolf lover, locating three missing werewolf teenagers, and learning to trust her non-human coworkers.

When a potential cure for the vampires’ infection is given to her by an unlikely source, it’s just as quickly stolen—collateral damage in a power play within the were-cat Clan that leaves one human ally dead and another horribly injured.  With Wyatt Truman still adjusting to his new life as a half-werewolf, Phineas missing in action, and her shifter allies crippled by internal anarchy, Evy has to rely on her own strength and instincts to steal back the cure, stop a murderer, and to save the Watchtower before it’s destroyed from the inside out.

io9 has a look at all the upcoming movies that are based (even loosly) on science fiction/fantasy novels. There’s a lot more than I thought there was.

Nalini Singh has announced the hero for her thirteen Psy-Changeling novel! OMG…not only are we going back to a Psy hero, but we’re going to see Vasic get his own girl! That actually makes me excited. In even more Psy-Changeling news, Singh will also be contributing to an anthology next year with a new DarkRiver story.

Chloe Neill has posted the schedule for her Biting Bad tour, which begins July 29th.  Each stop will include a giveaway of Biting Bad.

Entertainment Tonight, via io9, has a quick glimpse behind the scenes of the upcoming movie, Divergent, based on Veronica Roth’s bestselling novel.

Jim C. Hines is doing a local tour for the release of Codex Born, due out on august 6th. If you’re going to be in Michigan (or Indianapolis) or are close enough to drive, you’ll be able to fine Hines at the Lansing Schuler Books (along with Mary Robinette Kowal) on July 26th and August 6th, at Kazoo Books on August 10th and at Gencon in Indianapolis, Indiana August 15-18.

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.
