Guest Author: Candace Havens

Candace HavensI am excited to welcome author Candace Havens, who is celebrating the release of her new novella, Lions, Tigers, and Sexy Bears Oh My!.

A Montana town where no one is who they seem….

Everything about runaway heiress Ainsley McLeon screamed trouble—from her luscious midnight locks to her Louboutin-clad toes.  Yet sexy, stoic bar owner Luc couldn’t deny the instant connection he felt to the tempting stranger…or the long-dead feelings she evoked.  She could work in his pub until her truck was fixed but after that she had to leave town for good.

Ainsley traveled with her own emotional baggage and there was no way she’d fall for the bear-tempered Luc…no matter how many passionate nights she spent in his bed or how safe she felt in his muscular arms. Can these two opposites find love in the middle of a blizzard, or will Luc’s darker side and Ainsley’s past catch up with them?

Make sure you stick around to the end. We’ll be giving away .

An Eclectic Mix of Shows this Fall

So I’m out in Beverly Hills right now covering the Television Critics Association Press Tour. We talk to writers/producers and actors from all of the new shows. Each of the networks has one or two days to pimp their new shows and convince us as to why we should watch. Sometimes it takes a lot of convincing. We’re going to have a rather odd fall season this year. The good news is there is an eclectic mix of shows. I haven’t put my top ten list together yet, but I thought I’d share some shows you might want to take look at. Of course, none of this has anything to do with my book, “Lions, Tigers, and Sexy Bears Oh My!,” that just came out. But I’m hoping you’ll love me for giving you some network programming choices to check out and you’ll buy the book. These may not be the best shows coming your way, but the are interesting.

Once Upon A Time In Wonderland1. Once Upon A Time In Wonderland (ABC): It has a wobbly beginning, but it’s beautiful. I’m along for the ride. Alice begins in an insane asylum ready to give up on the life in wonderland that she remembers. But she comes to her senses. I can’t wait to see more.

2. Dracula (NBC): I’m not going to lie. The pilot is a bit of a mess. But I like all the twists and turns the show takes. I’m not saying it’s a great show, but it’s worth checking out if you like the most famous vampire of all.

3. Hostages (CBS): I have no idea where this show is going, but I’m curious to find out. A group of men take a doctor and her family hostage and force her to kill the president. Or do they?

4. The Hundred (CW): It’s 97 years after the Earth was destroyed by nuclear weapons. The law on the space station is strict, and 100 juvenile delinquents are sent to Earth with the hopes of repopulating it. It’s a weird sort of Lord of the Flies, but interesting.

5. Sleepy Hollow (FOX): This was one of my favorite pilots of the new season. It’s a fun twist on the story with tons of mythology.

6. Star Crossed (CW): Aliens come to Earth and there’s a great deal of prejudice against them. From the title you can guess there are star crossed lovers in this one. Lots of great teen angst with alien stuff. :)

7. Almost Human (FOX): A futuristic world where cops are assisted by robots. The pacing on the pilot is a bit off, but it’s a great story with lots of intrigue. And I like that Fox is taking a chance on shows that are really different.

There are a lot of interesting choices this Fall, but these are the ones that stick out for me. Read that as, the ones I can remember. I’ll be writing more about the TV and movie side of my life. You can stay tuned on Twitter.

Thanks again!
Candy

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.

  1. Thanks for sharing the Sexy Bears. I loved this book and I hope everyone enjoys it as much as I do. evamillien at gmail dot com

  2. I have to admit, I don’t actually watch any TV as I’m too busy reading. However, if I were to pick any of those shows, I’d probably check out Sleepy Hollow. Thanks for the run-down.
