JC Daniel’s Blade Song is currently free at iTunes.

Orbit Books has published an excerpt from A Dance of Cloaks by David Dalglish, which releases October 8th.

Author Appearances:

SLazear-Fragile DestinyOh Halle…fricking…lujah!  Check out what Wicked Scribes found over on GoodReads – A Shiver of Light by Laurell K. Hamilton.  It’s the 9th Merry Gentry book! OMG YES!!! I’ve been waiting for this. I miss my Frost and Darkness. It’s being listed as a June 2014 release, but I am so hoping it comes out sooner.

Jeaniene Frost has announced the title for her first Realmwalker novel. We’ll get to dive into her new world September 2014 when The Beautiful Ashes release. If you want a taste, Jeaniene included a small snippet during her interview at Romance Magicians.

Nalini Singh was caught on camera talking about her Psy-Changeling series earlier this summer while she was at Anderson’s Bookshop in Naperville. Nalini has announced the title, and has given us the blurb, for the next Psy-Changeling novel. We’ll get to see Vasic find his match with Ivy…who is Ivy?! Shield of Winter comes out June 2014.

Assassin. Soldier. Arrow. That is who Vasic is, who he will always be. His soul drenched in blood, his conscience heavy with the weight of all he’s done, he exists in the shadows, far from the hope his people can almost touch—if only they do not first drown in the murderous insanity of a lethal contagion. To stop the wave of death, Vasic must complete the simplest and most difficult mission of his life.

For if the Psy race is to survive, the empaths must wake…

Having rebuilt her life after medical “treatment” that violated her mind and sought to stifle her abilities, Ivy should have run from the black-clad Arrow with eyes of winter frost. But Ivy Jane has never done what she should. Now, she’ll fight for her people, and for this Arrow who stands as her living shield, yet believes he is beyond redemption. But as the world turns to screaming crimson, even Ivy’s fierce will may not be enough to save Vasic from the cold darkness…

Jennifer Estep has announced the title for her next Elemental Assassin novel. Poison Promise has a published date of July 2014, but sounds like it’ll be released June 24, 2014.

In anticipation of the release of Autumn Whispers, Yasmine Galenorn has been interviewing the main character, shifter Delilah D’Artigo – Part One, Two, and Three.

Outlander-Jamie and ClaireWe finally have our Jamie and Claire! Starz is adapting Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander for a 16 episode series to air next year and they’ve finally cast our darling couple. Jamie will be played by Scottish actor Sam Heughan, and just announced, Claire will be played by Irish actor Caitriona Balfe. For anyone who complains that Heughan isn’t a red-head, that is easily changeable, so suck it up. Filming is beginning this month in Scotland, so we should see pics of “Jamie” soon. The rest of cast hasn’t been announced yet, but here’s who we know will be joining Heughan and Balfe: Frank/Black Jack Randall (Tobias Menzies), Murtagh (Duncan Lacroix), Dougal MacKenzie (Graham McTavish), Colum MacKenzie (Gary Lewis), Angus Mhor (Stephen Walters), and Mrs. Fitzgibbons (Annette Badland). And because I am crazy excited about this, I’ve even started a STARZ Outlander album for all the pictorial goodness that will soon start appearing. *grin*

JK Rowling and Warner Brothers has announced that they will bringing the world of Harry Potter back to the screen with the adaptation of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Does the idea of a new Potter franchise excite us or are we done with it?

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is neither a prequel nor a sequel to the Harry Potter series, but an extension of the wizarding world. The laws and customs of the hidden magical society will be familiar to anyone who has read the Harry Potter books or seen the films, but Newt’s story will start in New York, 70 years before Harry’s gets underway.

Wicked Scribes has the details about Margaret Stohl and Kami Garcia’s Dangerous Creatures spin-off series. It seems that Dangerous Creatures is not a continuation of their Beautiful Creatures series, but will feature Link and Ridley with only cameo appearances from the original series characters. Another change, it may or may not be set in New York City instead of the South. Wicked Scribes has all the details, so if you’re curious, I would head over there.

Love it! Chloe Neill has released the cover and blurb for her upcoming Chicagoland Vampires novella, Howling for You, which releases January 7, 2014.

CNeill-Howling for YouJeff Christopher is a shapeshifter and ally of Chicago’s Cadogan House of vampires—he’s also a tech whiz and mostly-legal hacker. And the only protective shields he’s never been able to find a way around are those of the powerful Keene Family.

For a long time, Jeff has only had eyes for the beautiful Fallon Keene. Unfortunately, she is the only sister of the lethal North American Central Pack Apex Gabriel Keene. The intricate balances of power and politics make it all but impossible for Fallon to trust her feelings.

But fate takes a hand when the Pack’s totem is stolen—threatening the Keene family’s rule—and Fallon enlists Jeff’s help to retrieve it before the Pack is thrown into chaos. Can she and Jeff find the totem, and restore order, before it’s too late? And will Jeff finally be able to prove himself to the only person he truly loves?

There are always fabulous covers popping up and I simply can’t post them all, so here’s a select few that have caught my eye. To see them all, head over to facebook, where I’ve added them to the October album for your viewing pleasure (I’ll be adding a ton more tomorrow night or later tonight since I’m writing this after midnight). Don’t forget to check out the new covers that came out in SeptemberAugust, July, April and May.

Wicked Scribes is working on creating a 101 Series to Read Before You Die list and she’s asking for a little help. She makes a pretty good point when she says “There is a difference between loving a series yourself and thinking others might enjoy it, too.”, so she’s looking to see what others think should be on the list. Do you have a author/series that you think everyone should absolutely read before they die? If so, go over and tell Kayleigha all about it.

Armstrong Marr-Odins RavensLizzy’s Dark Fiction makes quite a few good points on what organizers of book tours should consider before approaching blogs. Something else I might add would be to check each blogs tour/author visit guidelines first. From an LE standpoint, we don’t accept blog tour invites if all we’re asked to do is post a review. Personally, I don’t want to be one of a dozen posting a review of the same book during the same time period. Even for ARCs, if I see a bunch of reviews being posted, I will actually hold it off and schedule it for a few weeks later. Why be one of a crowd when I can stand out more alone. *grin* Plus, I don’t read reviews. Especially of books I’m currently reading or plan to read that way my opinion is my own and not influenced one way or the other. So I’m not likely to click on links for blog tours that are all reviews.

Authors After Dark has opened registration for the 2014 convention. Next year the party will be in Charlotte, North Carolina, August 6th – 10th.  Side note, if you’re unsure if you’re able to go, I wouldn’t register until you know for sure. Refunds don’t happen.

About Jackie 3282 Articles
I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.
